摘要: Disclosed herein is a secondary battery pack including a battery cell having an electrode assembly mounted in a battery case together with an electrolyte, a protection circuit module (PCM) having a protection circuit for controlling overcharge, overdischarge, and overcurrent of the battery cell, an insulative mounting member mounted to a top cap of the battery cell, and an insulative cap coupled to the upper end of the battery cell, wherein the top cap is provided with at least one protrusion-type electrode terminal, and the top cap is provided at a partial region where the protrusion-type electrode terminal is not formed with a space (depression space) depressed downward by a predetermined depth. The insulative mounting member is provided with a through-hole (a first through-hole) corresponding to the protrusion-type electrode terminal and a through-hole (a second through-hole) corresponding to the depression space, the PCM is provided with a coupling through-hole corresponding to the first through-hole, and the coupling of the insulative mounting member and the PCM to the battery cell is achieved by successively fixedly inserting the protrusion-type electrode terminal through the first through-hole of the insulative mounting member and the coupling through-hole of the PCM.

A group of pole plates (1), formed by bending an anode plate (7) and a cathode plate (8) at a connection piece and coiling them flat so that the laminate surface of the anode plate (7) and that of the cathode plate (8) are layered one upon another via a separator (9), is housed in a battery case having the opening of a cap case (4) sealed by a sealing case (5). An insulating member is provided on the surface facing the end of the cathode plate (8) of the connection piece positioned in the center of the coiled anode plate (7).

摘要: An electrochemical cell (400) is provided comprising: a can (412) for containing elecrochemically active materials (120), the can (412) having a first end and an open end; a cover (445) positioned across the open end of the can (412); and a coating of an insulating material deposited directly on at least one of the can (412) and the cover (445) for electrically insulating the can (412) from the cover (445). A pressure relief mechanism is preferably formed in the closed end of the can (412). Also provided is a method of preparing an electrochemical cell (400) comprising the steps of: forming a can (412) having an open end and a closed end; forming a cover (445) for the open end of the can (412); dispensing electrochemically active materials (120) in the can (412); depositing a coating of an insulating material directly on at least one of the can (412) and the cover (445) for electrically insulating the can (412) from the cover (445); and sealing the cover (445) across the open end of the can (412) with the insulating material provided therebetween. The cell construction allows a large internal volume to be available for containing electrochemically active materials.

摘要: The present invention provides for a zinc-based negative electrode (i.e., anode) for an alkaline electrochemical cell. The negative electrode comprises zinc powder suspended in a gelling agent. The zinc powder has an average particle size substantially greater than 25 micrometers, and preferably has an average particle size of 150 micrometers or smaller. The zinc powder has less than 1 weight percent zinc dust of a particle size less than 25 micrometers. The cell achieves enhanced cell discharge performance at high rate discharge, while minimizing gassing.

A positive electrode plate (7) and a negative electrode plate (8) are folded at their connecting pieces and coiled around into a flat shape to construct an electrode plate group (1) such that layer faces of the positive electrode plate (7) and layer faces of the negative electrode plate (8) are alternately layered upon one another with a separator (9) interposed therebetween, and the electrode plate group is accommodated in a battery case made of a cap case (4) having an open end and a sealing case (5) for sealing this open end. An insulating member is provided to a connecting piece of the positive electrode plate (7) that is to be located at the center when the electrode plates are coiled around, on a face opposite one end of the negative electrode plate (8).

摘要: A forming die includes a base and at least two die segments. At least a first one of the die segments is moveably mounted to the base for shifting between closed and opened positions. The die segments together define a cavity having an opening when the first die segment is in the closed position. A punch is moveably mounted to the base for shifting between a retracted position and an extended position wherein the punch crimps a part positioned within the cavity. A powered actuator is connected to at least the first one of the die segments, and shifts the first die segment between the closed and opened positions such that a part positioned within the cavity can be removed after crimping by shifting of the first die segment to the open position. The forming die is particularly well-suited for crimping electrochemical cells.
