The present invention relates to a method and device for deactivating carrier aggregation and executing single carrier operation in a terminal, in a wireless communication system in which broadband is achieved by means of carrier aggregation. More specifically, in a terminal which is running a plurality of carriers, unnecessary power consumption in the terminal is prevented and additional screening events are minimized by defining physical layer signaling so as to make the terminal rapidly convert to running a single carrier.

A method for transmitting an uplink control channel at a terminal in a Single Carrier Frequency Division Multiple Access (SC-FDMA)-based mobile communication system is provided. The transmission method includes receiving a control channel index allocated from a base station; transmitting control information at every symbol through a subband and a Zadoff-Chue sequence offset resource, which are mapped to the control channel index according to a first grouping rule; and transmitting control information through a subband and a Zadoff-Chue sequence offset resource, which are mapped to the control channel index according to a second grouping rule, beginning from a symbol after a slot boundary.

A method and apparatus for transmitting/receiving pilot symbols for demodulation of control channel information in the uplink of a wireless communication system are provided. When an Evolved Node B (ENB) expects to receive both the Channel Quality Information (CQI) and the Acknowledgement (ACK)/Negative ACK (NACK) from a User Equipment (UE) in a certain subframe, if the UE transmits only the CQI channel, the ENB is prevented to detect the nonexistent ACK/NACK information from the CQI channel, thereby avoiding false alarm.

The method includes grouping ACK/NACK signal channels corresponding to a plurality of resource blocks used for transmission of a data channel or a control channel into a plurality of groups so ACK/NACK signal channels having consecutive indexes do not belong to the same group; and allocating same frequency resources to ACK/NACK signal channels belonging to the same ACK/NACK signal channel group and allocating orthogonal sequences so ACK/NACK signal channels in each ACK/NACK signal channel group are distinguished in a code domain.
