摘要: An ink jet printing device has a drop generator for producing continuous streams of ink drops from at least one orifice and further has stimulation control electronics for maintaining desired stimulation conditions in response to a feedback from the drop generator. First and second feedback transducers measure the stimulation amplitude in the drop generator and generate feedback output signals in response to the stimulation. The feedback output signals are approximately equal in magnitude and opposite in sign to each other when the stimulation amplitude in the drop generator is a desired stimulation mode. An amplifier, whose inputs are the feedback output signals, provides an amplifier output signal to the stimulation control electronics which is the difference between the two feedback output signals.

摘要: A system for flushing ink residue from a fluid system is provided for use with a continuous ink jet print station. Ink is rapidly drained from the fluid system, and the fluid system is refilled with a flush fluid. The flow of flush fluid is directed through all fluid system components which normally contain ink. Subsequently, the flow of flush fluid can be diverted to a waste tank rather than re-circulated into the ink tank.

摘要: A method is provided for improving the operation of ink jet components. The components are machined using known, conventional machining techniques. All of the machined surfaces are then treated using non-abrasive, intrinsically leveling polishing processes to eliminate particulate sources. The conventional machining may be any known technique, such as electro discharge machining. The polishing processes include, but are not limited to, electrochemical means such as electropolishing, electrochemical deburring, and electrochemical grinding. The polishing processes may further comprise vapor polishing, and laser treatment to reflow the machined surface.

摘要: A print head device is used in continuous ink jet printing. The device comprises a resonator means and ink supply body having a solid formed of high acoustic Q material. Transducer means are attached to the resonator means. The transducer means are energized at a desired drop frequency. Damping means (38) are provided for suppression of undesired interfering vibration modes of the resonator means and ink supply body, to achieve a desired mode. The damping means (38) are placed in regions having relatively high stress in the interfering modes and relatively low stress in the desired mode.

摘要: A drop generator for use in an ink jet printer is capable of stimulating long ink jet arrays at high operating frequencies. The drop generator comprises a substantially uniform cross section for a central portion and two end sections with different cross sections. The end sections have features to adjust a resonant frequency of the end sections to match that of the central portion. In particular, these features comprise cuts on a top of the drop generator. The drop generator utilizes multi-lobed radial bending modes for vibration of an array of orifices, and the vibrational modes are driven by at least two rows of transducers which extend substantially the length of the drop generator. The transducers are placed consistent with a lobe structure of an operational radial bending mode.

摘要: A mounting arrangement for an ink jet printing device has a drop generator (10) for producing continuous streams of ink drops from at least one orifice in an array. The mounting arrangement comprises vertical slots (20) located perpendicular to the longitudinal axis of the array and body (16). One or more of the slots (20) may include a retaining portion (22) near a nodal plane of the resonator body (16). Hollow mounting tubes (18) are insertable into the retaining portion (22) in a press fit relationship.
