A thermoplastic propylene resin composition of the present invention is obtained by blending an epoxy group containing copolymer (G) and a rubber-like material (H) and/or a modified rubber-like material (I) with a resin composition composed of a polyamide resin (F) and a polypropylene type resin (E) according to claim 1; by blending a polyamide resin (F), an epoxy group containing copolymer (G) and optionally a polypropylene (C) with a graft resin composition (J) obtained by graft copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof onto a mixture of polypropylene (C) and a rubber-like material (H) or; by blending a polyamide resin (F), an epoxy group containing copolymer (G) and optionally a polypropylene (C) with a graft resin composition (J) obtained by graft copolymerizing an unsaturated carboxylic acid or a derivative thereof and an unsaturated aromatic monomer onto a mixture of a polypropylene (C) and a rubber-like material (H). These thermoplastic propylene resin compositions can easily be processed into molded products, films or sheets by injection molding, extrusion molding or the like, giving products which have a good balance in various physical properties and a uniform and smooth appearance. They are suitable for purposes in which especially high heat resistance, impact resistance and low-temperature impact resistance are required.

A composition is prepared of, by wt, (I) (A) 100 parts of polypropylene, which may at least in part be grafted with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or anhydride, and (B) an engineering resin selected from a polyamide, polyphenylene ether, polyphenylene ether and styrene mixed of graft copolymerized, and a saturated polyester resin; and (II) to improve compatibility of (A) and (B), up to 30 parts of an unsaturated carboxylic acid or acid anhydride, ester, amide, imide or metal salt thereof, a diamine compound having at least 2 N atoms or a derivative thereof, or a copolymer of an unsaturated epoxy compound and an ethylenically unsaturated compound; and optionally up to 50 parts of an inorganic filler or glass fiber and/or up to 100 parts, each per 100 parts of composition (A), of rubbery copolymer (e.g. an ethylene copolymer rubber) which may be graft copolymerised with an unsaturated carboxylic acid or derivative thereof. The production of these components is described. The components are mixed and molded. The surface of the molded article, e.g. a film, plate or fibers, may be degreased and is irradiated with ultraviolet light of wavelength less than 300 nm, preferably 185 and 254 nm as main wavelengths, for 20 seconds to 10 minutes: The irradiation improves the coatability or printability of the surface, which may then be coated with a polymeric coating, e.g. of a urethane.

A thermoplastic elastomer composition which comprises: (i) 55 - 100% by weight of a thermoplastic elastomer I obtainable by partially crosslinking a mixture consisting essentially of (A) 50 - 90 parts by weight of an oil-extended olefinic copolymer rubber containing 60 - 150 parts by weight of a mineral oil per 100 parts by weight of an olefinic copolymer rubber having a 100 DEG C Mooney viscosity (ML1+4 100 DEG C) of 200 - 350 and (C) 50 - 10 parts by weight of an olefinic polymer resin; (ii) 45-0% by weight of a thermplastic elastomer II obtainable by partially crosslinking a mixture consisting essentially of (B) 50 - 80 parts by weight of an oil-extended olefinic copolymer rubber containing 10 - 60 parts by weight of a mineral oil per 100 parts by weight of an olefinic copolymer rubber having a 100 DEG C Mooney viscosity (ML1+4 100 DEG C) of 120 or higher and lower than 200 and (D) 50 - 20 parts by weight of an olefinic polymer resin; and (iii) (E) 0 - 30% by weight of an olefinic polymer resin, said composition having a 90% stress relaxation time of 0.1 - 10 seconds in measurement of viscoelasticity at 180 DEG C.

A multi-layer molded article comprising a thermoplastic resin body having plurality of ribs and/or bosses on one side and a layer of a foam which is laminated on the side of the thermoplastic resin body having ribs and/or bosses is easily produced by a press molding method which comprises steps of supplying a foam between upper and lower halves of a mold, one of which has plurality of slits and/or holes corresponding to the ribs and/or bosses to be formed, supplying a quantity of a plasticized thermoplastic resin melt between the already supplied foam and the half of the mold not having any slit or hole, moving at least one half of the mold during supplying the thermoplastic resin or just after completion of supply of the thermoplastic resin to press mold the thermoplastic resin so that the plasticized thermoplastic resin breaks at least a part of areas of the foam on the slits and/or holes of the half of the mold to flow into the slits and/or holes and to form the ribs and/or bosses.
