摘要: A surface-coated cutting tool includes a base material and a coating formed on the base material The coating includes an ±-Al 2 O 3 layer containing a plurality of ±-Al 2 O 3 crystal grains. The ±-Al 2 O 3 layer includes a lower layer portion disposed at a side of the base material, an intermediate portion disposed on the lower layer portion, and an upper layer portion disposed on the intermediate portion. In a crystal orientation mapping performed on a polished cross-sectional surface of the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer using an electron backscatter diffraction analysis apparatus, an area ratio of ±-Al 2 O 3 crystal grains with (001) orientation in the lower layer portion is less than 35%, an area ratio of ±-Al 2 O 3 crystal grains with (001) orientation in the intermediate portion is 35% or more, and an area ratio of ±-Al 2 O 3 crystal grains with (001) orientation in the upper layer portion is less than 35%. The ±-Al 2 O 3 layer has a thickness of 4 to 18 µm, a thickness of the intermediate portion occupies 50% or more of the thickness of the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer, and the lower layer portion and the upper layer portion each have a thickness of 1 µm or more.

摘要: Wear resistance and chipping resistance are both highly established for a surface-coated cutting tool (1). The surface-coated cutting tool (1) of the present invention includes a base material (7), and a coat film formed on the base material (7). A first coat layer (8) at a chamfer portion (4) has residual stress that exhibits a minimal value at a depth A within 2 µm from the surface, and that is greater than or equal to -7 GPa and less than or equal to -1 GPa. The first coat layer(8) at a portion other than the chamfer portion (4) has residual stress that increases continuously or stepwise as a function of advance in the central direction of the rake face and the central direction of the flank face, and that is greater than or equal to 0 GPa and less than or equal to 2 GPa. In the first coat layer (8), the region further deeper in the depth direction from depth A at the chamfer portion and the region other than the chamfer portion (4) is a rough crystal texture region (9) including crystals larger than the crystals in a fine crystal texture region (10).

The sulfur has a concentration distribution in which a concentration of the sulfur decreases in a direction away from a base-material-side surface of the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer, in a thickness direction of the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer.

摘要: A surface-coated cutting tool includes a base material and a coating formed on the base material. The coating includes an ±-Al 2 O 3 layer containing a plurality of ±-Al 2 O 3 crystal grains. The ±-Al 2 O 3 layer includes: a first region made up of an edge ridgeline, a region A of a rake face, and a region B of a flank face; a second region which is a region of the rake face except for the region A and covered with the coating; and a third region which is a region of the flank face except for the region B. The region A is sandwiched between the edge ridgeline and a virtual line in the rake face, the virtual line passing through a point located 1 mm away from the edge ridgeline and extending along the edge ridgeline. The region B is sandwiched between the edge ridgeline and a virtual line in the flank face, the virtual line passing through a point located 1 mm away from the edge ridgeline and extending along the edge ridgeline. The ±-Al 2 O 3 layer satisfies a relation b-a > 0.5, where a is an average value of a TC(006) in the first region in texture coefficient TC(hkl) and b is an average value of the TC(006) in the second region or the third region in texture coefficient TC(hkl).

摘要: A surface-coated cutting tool (10) according to the present invention includes a base material (11) and a coating (12) formed on the base material. The coating has an ±-Al 2 O 3 layer (16) containing a plurality of crystal grains of ±-Al 2 O 3 . The ±-Al 2 O 3 layer includes a lower layer portion (16B) which is located on a base material side in a thickness direction and has a thickness of 1 µm and an upper layer portion (16A) which is located on a surface side opposite to the base material side and has a thickness of 2 µm. When respective crystal orientations of the crystal grains are specified by performing EBSD analyses with an FE-SEM on a cross-section obtained when the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer is cut along a plane including a normal line of a surface of the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer and a color map is prepared based on the crystal orientations, in the color map, an area in the upper layer portion occupied by the crystal grains of which normal direction of a (001) plane is within ±10° with respect to a normal direction of the surface of the ±-Al 2 O 3 layer is equal to or more than 90%, and such an area in the lower layer portion is equal to or less than 50%.
