摘要: A sintered compact has a first material, a second material, and a third material The first material is cubic boron nitride. The second material is a compound including zirconium. The third material is an aluminum oxide and the aluminum oxide includes a fine-particle aluminum oxide. The sintered compact has a first region in which not less than 5 volume % and not more than 50 volume % of the fine-particle aluminum oxide is dispersed in the second material. On arbitrary straight lines in the first region, an average value of continuous distances occupied by the fine-particle aluminum oxide is not more than 0.08 µm and a standard deviation of the continuous distances occupied by the fine-particle aluminum oxide is not more than 0.1 µm.

The Si content ratio in the coating layer (6) on the rake face (3) is higher than that on the cutting edge (5).

摘要: A surface-coated cutting tool with a hard coating layer is provided. The hard coating layer includes at least a complex nitride or carbonitride layer (2) expressed by a composition formula: (Ti l-x-y Al x Me y )(CN l-z ), Me being an element selected from Si, Zr, B, V, and Cr. The average content ratio X avg , the average content ratio Y avg , and the average content ratio Z avg satisfy 0.60‰¤X avg , 0.005‰¤Y avg ‰¤0.10, 0‰¤Z avg ‰¤0.005, and 0.605‰¤X avg + Y avg ‰¤0.95. There are crystal grains having a cubic structure in the crystal grains constituting the complex nitride or carbonitride layer (2). A predetermined periodic content ratio change of Ti, Al and Me exists in the crystal grains having the cubic structure.

摘要: The hard coating layer of the cutting tool includes a complex nitide or complex carbonitride layer expressed by the composition formula: (Ti 1-x Al x )(C y N 1-y ). x avg and y avg satisfy 0.60 ≤ x avg ≤ 0.95 and 0 ≤ y avg ≤ 0.005. x avg is an average content ratio of Al in a total amount of Ti and Al, and y avg is an average content ratio of C in a total amount of C and N. Some of crystal grains composing the complex nitrdie or complex carbonitride layer have a cubic structure. In crytal grains having the cubic structure, the average crystal grain misorientaion is 1 degree or more; or 2 degress or more, based on analysis of the polished surface as a surface in the perpendicular direction to a surface of the layer. A peak exists in a range of 1-2 degrees of the average crystal grain misorientation in the frequency distribution of the average crystal grain misorientation and the area ratio.

摘要: A cubic boron nitride sintered body tool has, at least at a cutting edge, a cubic boron nitride sintered body composed of a cubic boron nitride particle and a binder phase. The content of cBN is not less than 20 volume % and not more than 60 volume %. The binder phase contains at least Al 2 O 3 and a Zr compound. On any straight line in the sintered body, the mean value of a continuous distance occupied by Al 2 O 3 is not less than 0.1 µm and not more than 1.0 µm, and the standard deviation of the continuous distance occupied by Al 2 O 3 is not more than 0.8. On the straight line, X/Y is not less than 0.1 and not more than 1 where X represents the number of points of contact between Al 2 O 3 and the Zr compound, and Y represents the sum of the number of points of contact between Al 2 O 3 and cBN and the number of points of contact between Al 2 O 3 and binder phase component(s) other than Al 2 CO 3 and the Zr compound. The Zr compound has an average particle size of not less than 0.01 µm and not more than 0.1 µm.

摘要: A surface-coated cutting tool (10) according to the present invention includes a base material (11) and a coating (12) formed on the base material. The coating includes an α-Al 2 O 3 layer, the α-Al 2 O 3 layer includes a plurality of crystal grains of α-Al 2 O 3 , and a grain boundary of the crystal grains contains a CSL grain boundary and a general grain boundary. Each of the α-Al 2 O 3 layers on a side of a rake face (1) and a side of a flank face (2) shows (001) orientation. In the α-Al 2 O 3 layer on the rake face side, a length L R3 of a ∑3 crystal grain boundary exceeds 80% of a length L R3-29 of a ∑3-29 crystal grain boundary and is not lower than 10% and not higher than 50% of a total length L R of all grain boundaries. In the α-Al 2 O 3 layer on the flank face side, a length L F3 of a ∑3 crystal grain boundary exceeds 80% of a length L F3-29 of a ∑3-29 crystal grain boundary and is not lower than 10% and not higher than 50% of a total length L F of all grain boundaries. A ratio L R3 /L R3-29 of the length L R3 to the length L R3-29 is higher than a ratio L F3 /L F3-29 of the length L F3 to the length L F3-29 .
