A diamond interconnection substrate (10) of the present invention includes a diamond substrate (1), and an implantation layer (2, 3, 4) constituted by the presence of metal elements having a thickness of at least 10 nm and a concentration of at least 10 20 cm -3 in the diamond substrate (1). The implantation layer (2, 3, 4) is formed by ion implanting metal elements with a high energy level of at least 1 MeV and a high dose of at least 10 16 cm -2 . Thus, a technique is provided by which a multi-layer interconnection is realized in the diamond having the highest thermal conductivity of all materials.

A silicon nitride ceramic sliding member which comprises Si 3 N 4 grains as a main component and is shaped or controlled in dimensions through hot plastic working wherein the Si 3 N 4 particles mainly comprises β-type columnar crystal grains. The ceramic sliding member is produced by the step (I) of preparing a preform made of silicon nitride ceramic sintered body comprising Si 3 N 4 grains as a main component wherein the average grain size (average grain size in minor axis in the case of β-type columnar crystal grains) of the Si 3 N 4 grains is at most 0.5 µm, and the hot plastic working step (II) of placing the preform in a mold and effecting hot plastic deformation of the preform for shaping or dimensional control thereof while simultaneously increasing the average aspect ratio of the β-type columnar crystal grains. The resultant sliding member has excellent sliding properties, a high mechanical strength and a high reliability at a low cost without resort to grinding or the like for shaping thereof.

A Josephson junction device comprising a single crystalline substrate including a principal surface having two horizontal planes and a smooth slope between the two horizontal planes, and an oxide superconductor thin film formed on the principal surface of the substrate. The oxide superconductor thin film includes a first and a second superconducting portions of a single crystalline oxide superconductor respectively positioned on the two horizontal planes of the substrate, a junction portion of a single crystalline oxide superconductor having a different crystal orientation from the two superconducting portions positioned on the slope of the substrate and two grain boundaries between each of the two superconducting portions and the junction portion. The grain boundaries constitutes one weak link of the Josephson junction.
