The invention relates to a method for preparing a functionalised diene elastomer, in particular a functionalised polybutadiene with a high cis-1,4 chaining rate having both a high Mooney viscosity and a low polydispersity index. The method of the invention comprises reacting a catalytic system with at least one conjugated diene monomer to be polymerised, and adding a functionalising agent to the elastomer thus obtained, said catalytic system including at least: optionally, a preformation conjugated diene; a salt of one or more rare earth metals; an inert hydrocarbon solvent; and alkylation agent; and a halogen donor with the exception of alkylaluminium sesquihalides; and the incorporation of at least one Lewis base: (i) either, before said reaction, in the catalytic system during the synthesis thereof, (ii) or, during said reaction, in said polymerising medium including said catalytic system and said monomer(s) to be polymerised.

The invention relates to a plasticizing system that can be used for plasticizing a diene rubber composition, characterized in that it is based on an MES or TDAE oil and on a terpene/vinyl aromatic copolymer resin, in particular, limonene and styrene copolymer. The rubber composition exhibits an improved resistance to wear and to cuts, said composition being based on at leas tone diene elastomer, a reinforcing filler, a cross-linking system and a plasticizing system comprising between 5 and 35 pce of an MES or TDAE oil and between 5 and 35 pce of a terpene/vinyl aromatic copolymer resin (pce = parts by weight per 100 parts of elastomers). The invention also relates to a method for preparing a composition of the aforementioned type, to the use of this composition for producing a finished article or semi-finished product for use in a tire or a tire/motor vehicle connecting system, particularly a tire tread.

The invention relates to a process for preparing, in one step, a diene block copolymer, of which at least one of these blocks is constituted of a polyether for which the number-average molecular weight is essentially from 100 to 5000 g/mol, and at least another of these blocks is constituted of a diene elastomer. The process according to the invention allows a high degree of grafting of the polyether to the polymer chains. The present invention also relates to a reinforced rubber composition, especially intended for manufacturing tyres, comprising such a block copolymer that is intended to interact with the reinforcing filler. A rubber composition according to the invention has improved hysteresis properties in the vulcanized state, while retaining satisfactory processing properties in the non-vulcanized state.
