摘要: A wireless relay controls backhaul in a data communication network. Relay user equipment attaches to a wireless base station coupled to a data network core and receives a first backhaul connection. An Ethernet switch attaches to a network gateway coupled to the data network core and establishes a second backhaul connection. The relay base station receives status data for the first backhaul connection through the wireless base station. The relay base station exchanges wireless user data with served user equipment. The relay base station selects one of the backhaul connections for the user data based on the status data of the first backhaul connection and exchanges the user data with the data network core over the selected one of the backhaul connections. The relay base station may receive and use status data for the second backhaul connection or the user data media type to select backhaul connections.

摘要: A Long Term Evolution (LTE) network delivers a media service that uses an Access Point Name (APN) Quality-of-Service (QoS) Class Identifier (QCI) to serve User Equipment (UE) over a wireless relay. A relay control system transfers a session request indicating the APN QCI to a wireless base station serving the wireless relay. The base station and the wireless relay configure a wireless network bearer to use the APN QCI. Responsive to the network bearer configuration, the wireless relay transfers a relay bearer request for the APN QCI to the relay control system. The relay control system returns a session request to the wireless relay. The wireless relay and the UE then configure a wireless access bearer to use the APN QCI. The wireless relay exchanges user media over the wireless access bearer and the wireless network bearer between the UE and the wireless base station using the APN QCI.

摘要: A wireless relay serves a first User Equipment (UE). A first eNodeB in the relay wirelessly exchanges UE signaling data and UE user data with the first UE. The first eNodeB processes the UE signaling data to generate S1-MME signaling data and exchanges the S1-MME signaling data with a second UE in the relay. The first eNodeB processes the UE user data to generate S1-U user data and exchanges the S1-U user data with a Local Serving Gateway (L-SGW) in the relay. The L-SGW terminates the S1-U user data to generate non-General Packet Radio Service Transfer Protocol (non-GTP) user data. The L-SGW exchanges the non-GTP user data with the second UE in the relay. The second UE compresses/decompresses the non-GTP user data and the S1-MME signaling data. The second UE wirelessly exchanges the compressed non-GTP user data the compressed S1-MME signaling data with a second eNodeB.

摘要: A wireless relay serves User Equipment (UE) over Proxy Mobile Internet Protocol (PMIP) tunnels. The wireless relay receives a wireless network address from a wireless network and a wireline network address from a wireline network. The wireless relay receives a bearer request from a network controller that identifies a gateway network address. The wireless relay selects the wireless network address or the wireline network address responsive to the bearer request. In some examples, the wireless relay selects the network address based on a UE ID. The wireless relay generates and transfers a PMIP update that indicates the selected network address to the gateway network address. The wireless relay receives a PMIP response. The wireless relay exchanges user data over the wireless PMIP tunnel if the wireless network address was selected. The wireless relay exchanges the user data over the wireline PMIP tunnel if the wireline network address was selected.
