摘要: It is possible to provide an optical modulator in which a transmission loss from a driver circuit element to a modulation substrate is reduced. An optical modulator includes a modulation substrate (1) that includes an optical waveguide (200) and a modulation electrode (10) for modulating a light wave propagating through the optical waveguide, a driver circuit element (2) that generates a modulation signal to be applied to the modulation electrode (10), and a case (3) that accommodates the modulation substrate (1) and the driver circuit element (2), in which an output terminal (20') that outputs the modulation signal is provided on an upper surface side of the driver circuit element (2), and a wiring substrate (4) including a wiring that electrically connects the output terminal (20') and the modulation electrode (10) is disposed above the driver circuit element (2) and the modulation substrate (1) to straddle both the driver circuit element (2) and the modulation substrate (1) .

摘要: An optical modulator is provided which can compensate for a bias shift between an output light and a monitoring light of the optical modulator and which has a configuration capable of being reduced in size with a simple structure. The optical modulator comprises a substrate that has an electro-optical effect, an optical waveguide that includes a Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide formed in the substrate, a modulation electrode that modulates light waves propagating in the optical waveguide, an optical fiber that guides an output light from the optical waveguide, light collecting means for collecting two radiated lights from the Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide toward a single optical receiving element, and light intensity ratio adjusting means for adjusting a light intensity ratio of the two radiated lights received by the optical receiving element.

摘要: The electric field measuring device measures an electric field intensity of an electromagnetic wave generated from equipment under test 8 in an area for detecting an electromagnetic wave. An antenna 1 and an optical intensity modulator having a Mach-Zehnder type optical waveguide are inside the area and an output signal of the antenna is supplied to a modulation electrode of the optical intensity modulator. A light source unit, a light receiving unit, and a DC bias control unit controlling a DC bias voltage supplied to the optical intensity modulator are outside the area. An optical wave is guided to the optical intensity modulator from the light source unit, and is guided to the light receiving unit from the optical intensity modulator via an optical fiber 4. The DC bias voltage is supplied to the optical intensity modulator from the DC bias control unit via a power supply line 4.
