摘要： A benzoimidazole compound represented by the general formula (I) or a salt thereof: (I) wherein X1 represents an oxygen atom or a carbonyl group; and R1 represents a furan ring having 1 to 3 substituents or a pyrrole ring which may have 1 to 3 substituents, provided that a compound represented by the general formula (I) wherein the substituent is a phosphoric acid group or a phosphate ester group is excluded. The benzoimidazole compound or salt thereof has an excellent prostaglandin D synthetase inhibitory activity, and is useful as a prophylactic and/or therapeutic agent for a disease associated with prostaglandin D2 or a metabolite thereof, such as an allergic disease or an inflammatory disease or as an inhibitor for the exacerbation of Alzheimer disease or cerebral damage.
