A method for scheduling enhanced uplink traffic in a cell in a cellular communication system comprises estimating of a rise-over-thermal measure for the cell. A momentary total load in the cell is computed based on the estimated rise-over-thermal measure. A load headroom is determined from at least a maximum allowed load and the momentary load. Future enhanced uplink traffic is scheduled in dependence of the determined load headroom. A degree of underutilization of enhanced uplink traffic grants in the cell is established. The scheduling comprises overbooking of enhanced uplink traffic in dependence on the established underutilization degree. A network node comprises corresponding functionalities.

The radio base station comprises a receiver for receiving radio signals transmitted over the air by users, and a first processor for processing the received signals in order to recover signals for a first group of users, the "cancellers", and a first set of control signals for a second group of users, the "cancellees". The radio base station further comprises an interference canceller for performing interference cancellation on the received signals using the recovered signals in order to generate an interference cancelled signal, a second processor for subsequently processing the interference cancelled signal in order to recover a second set of control signals for the cancellees, and a controller for using the control signals to control the transmission of data towards said cancellees.

A radio connection is established involving a mobile terminal where the mobile terminal receives information from a mobile communications network over a high speed-downlink shared channel and the mobile terminal transmits information to the mobile communications network over a first uplink channel. A downlink channel quality associated with a first data transmission over the high speed downlink shared radio channel to the first mobile terminal is determined. An uplink data transmission rate limit is then set for information to be transmitted over the uplink channel by the mobile terminal based on the determined high speed downlink shared channel quality.
