The present invention relates to a wrinkle reducing composition for use on fabrics, particularly clothing. The composition comprises a wrinkle reducing active, which is made up of an effective amount of silicone and an effective amount of film-forming polymer, and a liquid carrier. The composition is substantially free of starch, modified starch, and mixtures thereof, and results a Loss Modulus Difference of greater than about 3.3 x 107 Pascal on fabric. The composition can be incorporated into a spray dispenser that can create an article of manufacture that can facilitate treatment of fabric with the wrinkle reducing composition. The wrinkle reducing actives in the composition can be determined through Dynamic Mechanical Analysis using a 100 % cotton broadcloth swatch and a fixed volume of a sample of wrinkle reducing active.

The compositions of the present invention contain biodegradable diester quaternary ammonium compounds of formula (I), wherein: each Q is -O-(O)C- or -C(O)-O-; n is 1 to 4; each R1 substituent is a short chain C¿1?-C6 alkyl group, benzyl group or mixtures thereof; each R?2¿ is a long chain C¿11?-C21 hydrocarbyl, or substituted hydrocarbyl substituent and the counterion, X?-¿, can be any softener-compatible anion; wherein the biodegradable quaternary ammonium fabric softening compound is derived from C¿11?-C21 fatty acyl groups having an Iodine Value of from greater than about 5 to less than about 100, a cis/trans isomer weight ratio of greater than about 30/70 when the Iodine Value is less than about 25, the level of unsaturation of the fatty acyl groups is less than about 65 % by weight, the aqueous compositions being stable without nonionic viscosity modifiers when the concentration is less than or equal to 13 %.

Principal solvents, especially mono-ol and diol principal solvents, having a ClogP of from about 0.15 to about 0.64, preferably from about 0.25 to about 0.62, and more preferably from about 0.40 to about 0.60, are disclosed that have the ability to make clear aqueous fabric softener compositions containing relatively high concentrations of fabric softener actives having ester linkages in their long, hydrophobic chains. The fabric softener actives are either unsaturated, or have intermediate length chains (∩C12-14) and the said principal solvents are used at levels of less than about 40 %. Other solvents may be present. Some of the said principal solvents are novel compounds and/or novel mixtures. Premixes of the fabric softening actives, the principal solvents, and, optionally, other solvents are useful in the preparation of complete formulations by obviating/limiting the need for heating.
