The present invention attains the object by providing an ambient temperature molten salt comprising a first imidazolium salt having a cationic segment represented by the general formula (1) and an anionic segment represented by MX 4 (where M is a transition metal and X is a halogen); and a second salt having a cationic segment as a monovalent cation and an anionic segment as a halogen.
