Therefore, a waist area chamber (28B) of a rear side airbag (28) may be caused to deploy between the waist area of a seat occupant (14) and the door trim (32) as intended.

However the dilatant pad 22 instantly becomes hard when load from the head of the occupant is imparted to the front portion of the headrest body 16 such as during an impact to the rear face of a vehicle, suppressing rearward head movement. Moreover a thinner headrest body 16 can be achieved due to being able to dispense with a foam body disposed at the front portion of the headrest body 16 to secure the comfort of the occupant.
