摘要:
A composition suitable for use after activation as a catalyst or a support therefor in the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons comprising a porous, essentially amorphous framework matrix comprising at least one element present in the form of a hydrolysed compound thereof, for example silicon and aluminium, and distributed uniformly throughout the framework matrix at least one metal selected from Groups Via and VIII of the Periodic Table, for example iron, cobalt, nickel and/or ruthenium. Also a process for the production of the composition involving a hydrolysis step and a process for converting synthesis gas to hydrocarbons using the activated composition as catalyst.
摘要:
A composition for use after reductive activation as a catalyst for the conversion of synthesis gas to hydrocarbons having a carbon number greater than one, which composition has the formula: wherein A is an alkali metal, x is a number such that the valence requirements of the
other elements for oxygen is satisfied, a is greater than zero and less than 1%w/w, based on the total weight of the composition, b is in the range from zero to 10% w/w, based on the total weight of the composition, and CE and O constitute the remainder of the composition, is produced by the process comprising the steps of:
(A) bringing together in solution soluble salts of the metals ruthenium and cerium and a precipitant comprising a carbonate and or bicarbonate and/or a hydroxide of an alkali metal or ammonium under conditions whereby there is formed a precipitate comprising rythenium and cerium in the form of compounds thermally decomposable to their oxides, and (B) recovering the precipitate obtained in step (A). Also a process for the conversion of synthesis gas using the catalyst produced as aforesaid, optionally in combination with a zeolite.

Hydrocarbons having a carbon number greater than one are produced by contacting synthesis gas at elevated temperature and atmospheric or superatmospheric pressure with a catalyst having a composition represented by the formula:
wherein A is an alkali metal, a is greater than zero and up to 25% w/w. b is in the range from zero to 5% w/w, c is in the range from zero to 15% w/w, x is a number such that the valence requirements of the other elements for oxygen is satisfied, and the remainder of the composition, subject to the requirement for x, is cerium.

A catalyst composition suitable for use in the production of alcohols from synthesis gas comprises as essential elements:
(a) cobalt (b) one or more of copper, silver, gallium, zirconium, zinc and thorium (c) one or more of palladium, platinum and nickel, and (d) one or more alkali metals, in the atomic ratio of component (a): component (b): component (c) of 100:1 to 400:1 to 500, the alkali metal or metals forming up to 5% by weight of the composition. A suitable catalyst composition has the empirical formula: wherein (a), (b), (c) and (d) are as above, the value of x is such that (d) forms up to 5% by weight of the composition and y is a number such that the valence requirements of the other elements for oxygen is satisfied.

A catalyst composition for use in the production of hydrocarbons from synthesis gas comprises the essential metals
(a) at least one of iron, cobalt, nickel and ruthenium, and (b) at least one of lithium, sodium, potassium, calcium and magnesium
supported on silicate, as described and claimed in US Patent No. 4,061,724, the metals [(a)+(b)] being present on the silicalite support in an amount in the range from 0.5 to 15% by weight. The catalyst composition may be modified by addition of the hydrogen form of a crystalline zeolite having the composition expressed as mole ratios of oxides: wherein M is at least one cation, n is the valence thereof, W is aluminium and/or gallium, Y is silicon and/or germanium and z has a value of 0 to 40, said zeolite being characterised by an XRD pattern which is substantially that of an MFI-type zeolite. Synthesis gas is converted to olefinic hydrocarbons using the unmodified catalyst and to gasoline range hydrocarbons using the modified catalyst.
