In order for the method to conserve energy and inexpensively and reliably prevent pneumatic system components from icing up, an additional ON time (ED_zus) of the compressor in the cold mode is variably controlled at least in a predefined ambient temperature range and is determined in accordance with the difference in temperature (ΔΤ) between the ambient temperature (T_Umg) and the target temperature (T_Ziel).
