A full color xerographic printing system, either double pass (Fig. 1) or single pass (Fig. 6), with a single polygon, single optical system Raster Output Scanning (ROS) system (16) has a dual wavelength laser diode source (18) for the ROS which images the dual beams at a single station (B) as closely spaced spots or at two stations (BB,II) as closely spaced spots on a dual layer photoreceptor (10) with each photoreceptor layer sensitive to or accessible by only one of the two wavelengths. By exposing the photoreceptor to various combinations of the beams and depositing different color toners on the photoreceptor, a full color developed image can be obtained.
