A boat (100) is provided with Arneson drives 40 which drive propellers (44) by means of propeller shafts (41) via universal joints (42), and which control the left and right directions of the propellers (44) by means of hydraulic cylinders (43). Two of the Arneson drives (40) are provided, and the Arneson drives (40) are respectively provided to the left and right sides of a hull (10). The propellers (44) are controlled in the left and right directions in a mutually independent manner.

A ship steering system (100) for outdrive device includes an outdrive device (10), a control device (40) that provides an instruction about a turning direction of the outdrive device (10), and a ship steering lever (4) that instructs the control device (40) about a traveling direction of a hull (1), and is provided with a monitor (8) capable of displaying an image for matching an actual traveling direction with the traveling direction of the hull (1) according to the instruction from the ship steering lever (4). The monitor (8) shows the direction in which the ship steering lever (4) is tipped, and indicates that the operation is proper if the direction in which the ship steering lever (4) is tipped corresponds to a pre-set direction.
