    摘要: The dressing (10) comprises a pad which contacts the wound without adhering thereto and absorbs wound exudate, a substrate (14) adhered to the pad which is impermeable to both bacteria and liquid water, the substrate allowing the extent of wound exudate absorption by the pad to be observed therethrough, and a cover sheet (16) adhered to the substrate and having an opening therethrough, the substrate and pad being dimensioned such that they extend beyond the dimensions of the cover opening while allowing a portion of adhesive on the cover sheet to remain uncovered to permit the dressing to be adhered to a patient's skin around the wound and so no adhesive contacts the wound. A method for the application of the aforedescribed dressing is also contemplated which comprises applying the dressing onto the wound.

    摘要: A non-stretching wound dressing (10) is provided for use with a patient. The wound dressing includes a cover sheet (16) having top, and bottom sides, a thin film sheet (34) formed on the bottom side of the cover sheet, the film sheet having first, and second ends (24, 26), an adhesive side (23), and a carrier sheet (18) in adjacent contact with the adhesive side of the thin film sheet. The dressing also includes a first gripping tab (32) attached to one end of the thin film sheet, disposed between the film sheet, and the carrier sheet for separating the carrier sheet from the film sheet with the cover sheet remaining affixed to the film sheet. A second gripping tab (36) is attached to the top side of the cover sheet, and at one end of the cover sheet so that pulling on the second gripping tab releases the cover sheet from the film sheet with the film sheet remaining in place on the patient.

The eyelet magazine (55) continually supplies eyelets from an eyelet hopper to the eyelet transfer wheel (53), which in turn continually supplies the eyelets to the eyelet die wheel (41). Likewise, the stud magazine (56) continually supplies studs from a stud hopper to the stud transfer wheel (54), which in turn continually supplies studs to the stud die wheel (42). The eyelet or stud is held on the die (45, 46) of the die wheel (41, 42) and the stripper (57, 58) of the transfer wheel (53, 54) by a vacuum (60). The vacuum (60) is applied from a vacuum source through ports (81, 82, 83, 84) in each wheel to the die (45, 46) or stripper (57, 58) interface with the eyelet or stud. The vacuum in a transfer wheel operates from the point it receives an eyelet or stud from the magazine until the point where the eyelet or stud in transferred to the die wheel (42). Similarly, the vacuum in a die wheel operates from the point it receives the eyelet or stud from the transfer wheel to the time the eyelet and stud are assembled in the web at the nip (43). A single drive input rotates a gear (106) at the base of one wheel, which in turn synchronously rotates the other wheels through a gear train at the wheel bases.

    摘要: A continuous process is provided for the preparation at ambient temperatures of a polymer-based foam sheet in which the foam is produced from a reaction product capable of curing at ambient temperatures formed by the reaction of a reactant composition comprising a prepolymer, such as an isocyanate-capped polyether, and water. The process includes providing a continous substrate (5); depositing said reaction product onto said substrate (5); compressing said reaction product by subjecting said product to at least one compression of a predetermined degree after said reaction product has creamed but prior to the time said reaction product has finally cured; and finally curing said reaction product.
    In addition to the above process an apparatus for the production of the aforesaid foam is also described.
