摘要: An apparatus (12) for increasing the quantity of dissolved oxygen in water. The apparatus (12) includes an inlet (14) for receiving untreated water. A cell housing (12) having an electrolytic cell therein is coupled to the inlet (14). A translucent resident time housing (22) is connected to the cell housing (12) for receiving water containing oxygen and hydrogen gas. The resident time housing (22) is vertically oriented and longitudinally extended for a selected vertical length above the cell housing (12). This provides sufficient resident time of the water in a quiet zone to permit the generated oxygen gas to transition into the dissolved state prior to reaching the top of the resident time housing (22). An outlet (28) is provided at the top of the resident time housing (22) to dispense water having a high dissolved oxygen content. A gas vent (32) is provided at the outlet (28) to permit the escape of hydrogen or other gases which have not been dissolved into the water. Preferably, a chill unit (40) is provided prior to the electrolytic cell to reduce the temperature of the water. Chilling makes the water pleasing for human consumption, as well as increases the water's ability to absorb dissolved oxygen. Additionally, a light (38) or other artistic display may be provided adjacent to or with the resident time housing (22) for the pleasure of viewers.

摘要: An under the counter water treatment system. Water from an outside supply source, such as a municipal water line, is provided to user's home. A prefilter (41) to remove sediment, organic compounds, and certain pollutants is first provided. After the prefilter, the water enters a reverse osmosis system (42) which includes an osmotic membrane. The reverse osmosis membrane filters out impurities and very small particles to provide highly purified water. The outflow of the reverse osmosis filter is stored in a water tank (44). Water is removed from the tank by releasing an appropriate valve when the user wishes to drink the water. When the water exits the tank, it passes through an electrolytic cell (36) having a plurality of plates. Current passes between the plates, and thus through the water flowing between the plates. This has several effects on the water including creating oxygen in the water, inserting free electrons into the water, as well as improving the taste, and affinity of the water for accepting other minerals. After passing out of the electrolytic cell, the water may pass through a final treatment stage (45) after which it is provided at an outlet tap for consumption by an end user. The flow of electricity to the plates is controlled in three modes of operation. During the first mode of operation, power is provided to the plates for a selected period of time after which the switch is first depressed. After the selected period of time has passed, control of power to the plates is linked to the actuation switch itself during a second mode of operation. If the switch remains on for an extended period of time, the electronic controls enter a third mode of operation during which power is automatically terminated to the electrolytic cell.

摘要: A method and apparatus (10) for generating oxygenated water are shown and described. A plurality of electrolytic cells (16) are coupled to each other and to a source of water (12). A volume of water is drawn from the source (12), and forced through at least one of the electrolytic cells (16) at a user desired flow rate. If the demanded rate of flow at the outlet exceeds a threshold flow rate through the electrolytic cell (16), a valve (22) is opened and an additional volume of water flows through the second electrolytic cell (16) to the discharge (19), the rate of flow through each electrolytic cell (16) not exceeding the selected value. Additional cells (16) are added as needed. A varying demand of oxygenated water is therefore met, while ensuring that the dissolved oxygen content of the water at the outlet (19) does not fall below a selected value.

摘要: A method and apparatus (10) for increasing the oxygen content of water have been shown and described. A volume of water (16) is passed between the electrodes of an electrolytic cell (12), a portion of the volume of water (16) converting to dissolved oxygen. A desired level of dissolved oxygen is selected, and the number of times the volume of water (16) must flow through the electrolytic cell (12) to ensure that the volume of water (16) contains the selected percentage of dissolved oxygen is also selected. The volume of water (16) is then forced through the cell (12) the selected number of times, such that the volume of water (16) contains the desired percentage of dissolved oxygen. The electrolytic cell (12) is in fluid communication with a tank (26) and a pump (18), the pump (18) drawing the volume of water (16) from the tank (26) and forcing it through the electrolytic cell (12) and back into the tank (26).
