The invention relates to a method for sintering materials containing iron oxide in a sintering machine. According to said method, a sinter mixture containing a solid fuel is ignited, gases containing oxygen are conducted through the sinter mixture and the hot final sinter product is cooled after discharge. One portion of the waste gas is returned to the sintering machine as recycled gas and the other portion of the waste gas is evacuated as residual gas. The division of the total waste gas quantity into recycled gas and residual gas is achieved by a variation of the process surface (sinter strand).

The invention relates to a device for rapping a row of collector electrodes in an electrostatic precipitator, the collector electrodes consisting of strip plates suspended from their upper ends with respect to their longitudinal extension. The aim of the invention is to provide a device for rapping a row of collector electrodes which guarantees an even supply of impact energy to the electrode plates and allows a high cleaning efficiency during rapping and a free thermal expansion in the longitudinal direction of the plates. This aim is achieved in that a gap is defined between the side of every collector electrode facing away from the rapping device and the subsequent anvil. An elastic spring element having a predetermined spring rate is arranged in said gap and is connected only on one side, either to the collector electrode or to the anvil, and is suitable to allow a substantially free oscillation of the collector electrodes between the anvils after an impact momentum.

The frame part is provided with a shaving tool and with at least one rotatably mounted copying roll and an opening for removing chips. The tilting axis (9) of the frame part (3) is, when viewed on the discharge side, located behind the shaving point (10) at the end of the frame part (3), and a means for adjusting the tilting angle is located at the front end of the frame part (3).
