摘要： Apparatus is described for processing articles. It has a hollow drum (2) having permeable walls (10). At one end there is an inlet (8) for receiving articles onto an inside surface of the permeable walls (10). At the other end is an outlet (6) for discharging articles from the drum (2). The drum (2) is rotated about an axis having at least a horizontal component at such speed that centrifugal force acting on the articles is sufficient to overcome the gravity acting on the articles. A first jet of fluid is applied to the articles through the permeable wall, to displace the articles from the inside surface and in a direction away from the inlet, towards the outlet.
In one application, the process is used to dry the articles. In another application the process is used to inspect the articles.-

摘要： A method and apparatus for removing the skins or hulls from nuts and other seeds, including those of legumes, grains, drupes, silques, achenes and the like involves wetting the seeds with an alkaline solution (10) and then with a peroxygen solution (12). The two substances react underneath the skin to liberate gas between the seed meat and the skin. The gas bubbles blister the skin, causing it to become loosened. Slight mechanical action is used to dislodge the blistered skins from the seed meats.
