摘要: A system (10) that positions and attaches a shoe part in an automated manner during a shoe-manufacturing process, the system (10) comprising: an image recorder that records an image (228) depicting a two-dimensional representation (232) of an attachment shoe part (224), which is to be attached to a base shoe part (226); computer storage media having stored thereon computer-executable instructions that, when executed, cause a computing device to: (A) identify at least one reference feature (258) of the two-dimensional representation (232) of the attachment shoe part (224), (B) determine a geometric coordinate (205) of the attachment shoe part (224) in a geometric coordinate system (225), which maps a three-dimensional space within which the attachment shoe part (224) is positioned and a manufacturing tool (3310) operates, and (C) determine another geometric coordinate (203) in the geometric coordinate system (225) by analyzing a different image (230) of the base shoe part (226); and the manufacturing tool (3310) comprising: (A) a part pickup tool (3100) having a bottom surface adapted for contacting the attachment shoe part (224), and (B) a welding tool (3210) integrated into the part pickup tool (3100), the welding tool (3210) comprised of a distal end (3212) adapted for contacting the attachment shoe part (224) such that the distal end (3212) extends at least to a plane defined by the part pickup tool (3100) bottom surface, wherein the manufacturing tool is notified of the other geometric coordinate (203) and is adapted to transfer the attachment shoe part (224) from the geometric coordinate (205) to the other geometric coordinate (203), thereby moving the attachment shoe part (224) to a location in the three-dimensional space at which the attachment shoe part (224) is to be attached to the base shoe part (226).

摘要: A method of positioning and joining a plurality of manufacturing parts utilizing automated identification of manufacturing parts and a manufacturing tool comprised of a vacuum-powered part holder and an ultrasonic-welding horn is disclosed. The method comprises: automatically identifying a three-dimensional space within which a first manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts is positioned and the manufacturing tool operates; automatically identifying a position of a second manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts; based on the identified position of the first manufacturing part, positioning the manufacturing tool such that the vacuum-powered part holder is proximate to the first manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts; generating a vacuum force transferred through a bottom surface of the vacuum-powered part holder; temporarily maintaining the first manufacturing part in contact with at least a portion of the vacuum-powered part holder; based on the position of the second manufacturing part, transferring the first manufacturing part to the second manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts; releasing the first manufacturing part from the vacuum-powered part holder; positioning the manufacturing tool such that the ultrasonic-welding horn is proximate to the first manufacturing part where the first manufacturing part is contacting the second manufacturing part; and applying ultrasonic energy through the ultrasonic-welding horn, wherein the ultrasonic energy is effective for joining the first manufacturing part with the second manufacturing part.

The method comprises: automatically identifying a three-dimensional space within which a first manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts is positioned and the manufacturing tool operates; automatically identifying a position of a second manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts; based on the identified position of the first manufacturing part, positioning the manufacturing tool such that the vacuum-powered part holder is proximate to the first manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts; generating a vacuum force transferred through a bottom surface of the vacuum-powered part holder; temporarily maintaining the first manufacturing part in contact with at least a portion of the vacuum-powered part holder; based on the position of the second manufacturing part, transferring the first manufacturing part to the second manufacturing part of the plurality of manufacturing parts; releasing the first manufacturing part from the vacuum-powered part holder; positioning the manufacturing tool such that the ultrasonic-welding horn is proximate to the first manufacturing part where the first manufacturing part is contacting the second manufacturing part; and applying ultrasonic energy through the ultrasonic-welding horn, wherein the ultrasonic energy is effective for joining the first manufacturing part with the second manufacturing part.

摘要: A machine moves shoe strobels to a camera or scanner where images of the strobels are captured. Using the images, a computing device instructs a printer how to mark guidelines on the strobels that signify one or more strobel sewing lines for different shoes models and shoe sizes. Cross-sectional lines may also be printed on the strobels to aid in error-checking guideline marking. Unmarked strobels are stacked in a loading compartment, sometimes in pairs—e.g., right and left shoe strobels. The unmarked strobels are transferred to a conveyor that brings the strobels to the camera or scanner and the printer. After guidelines and/or cross-sectional lines are added to the strobels, the marked strobels are stacked in a compartments housing other marked strobels.
