摘要： A unitary, one piece, T-shaped bed frame structural member. The member is usable as a side rail, a cross member or any other structural member of a bed frame. The T-shape includes a wide flange forming the large member of the T-shape with a short flange extending outwardly from the wide flange at about the center thereof. At the intersection of the wide and short flanges, two fillets are formed therebetween that are similar in shape and have a series of circular arcs having predetermined radii and the circular arcs meet together forming a straight line along the longitudinal length of the structural member. The presence and shape of the fillets improves the strength and manufacturability of the T-shaped bed frame structural member or members.

摘要： A bed frame (44) comprising T shaped side rails (46,48,170) provide support for a box spring and mattress. A leg assembly is affixed to the bed frame (44) and is affixed to the side rail (44,46,170) and to the cross rails (20,22,24,26) for better strength of connection. The use of T-shaped side rails (46,48,170) provides more resistance to twisting and bowing and thereby more resistant to damage a leg or other structural component of the bed frame (44) from moving the bed frame across the floor. The use of the T-shaped cross section side rails enables the overall bed frame to support more weight with less deflection than the convention L-shaped side rails. There are also headboard and footboard brackets (16,18,218) that take advantage of the greater height of the vertical flange (50) of the side rail (46,48,170) to have affixation means, such as rivets, that are further spaced apart to provide a more rigid connection between the brackets (16,18,218) and the side rails (46,48,170).

摘要： A mattress assembly supporting a mattress and occupants is constructed substantially of plastic material. A mattress foundation (100, 200, 300, 400) defined by a semi-rigid cavity includes a generally flat top surface (110) and at least one sidewall (120, 220, 320) depending from the top surface. For pliability and structural weight reduction, the foundation may be ribbed, with air spaces formed therein. Ground support members (130, 140) may be used to retain the foundation in a substantially horizontal orientation above ground. To reinforce the foundation's structural integrity, support braces (230) connecting opposing sidewall portions may be used. The braces may be detachable or integrally formed with the foundation. The assembly may include a headboard (410). To ease transport, casters (310) may be included with the foundation. The assembly may be constructed of extruded or assembled plastic pieces; molded plastic; recyclable plastic; plastic reinforced with metal core, metal fiber, glass fiber, carbon fiber, resin or a combination of these.
