摘要： A bed frame (10) comprising T shaped side rails (46, 48) provide support for a box spring and mattress. A leg assembly (28) is affixed to the bed frame (10) and is affixed to the side rail (46, 48) and to the cross rails (66) for better strength of connection. The use of T-shaped side rails (46, 48) provides more resistance to twisting and bowing and thereby more resistant to damage a leg (28) or other structural component of the bed frame (10) from moving the bed frame (10) across the floor. The use of the T-shaped cross section side rails (46, 48) enables the overall bed frame (10) to support more weight with less deflection than the convention L-shaped side rails (46, 48). There are also headboard and footboard brackets (18, 220) that take advantage of the greater height of the vertical flange (168, 178, 180) of the side rail (46, 48) to have affixation means, such as rivets (98, 214), that are further spaced apart to provide a more rigid connection between the brackets (18, 220) and the side rails (46, 48).

摘要： A comprehensive means of providing protection to a bed frame by covering various locations about the bed frame with plastic shields. The plastic shields are adapted to enclose the various locations about the bed frame including the ends of side rails, the junction of side rails and cross members, leg assemblies and the side rails themselves. The shields (10) comprise a pair of housings (12, 14) joined together with a living hinge (16) such that the free ends can be affixed together to surround and enclose the various locations where sharp edges are present. The use of the shields provides overall protection to all of the locations where there may be sharp edges that could harm a person striking the location and thus there is a comprehensive approach to full protection of the bed frame.
