Abstract: A process for detecting acoustic leaks in a non-invasive sensor based on indirect photoacoustic detection, comprising:
a) measuring with a detection cell a plurality of amplitudes and/or phases of pressure waves generated in the detection cell in response to a plurality of irradiations of a test target with at least one light source, the intensity of the emitted light being modulated at a modulation frequency that is different for each of the plurality of irradiations;
b) Determining with a processor at least one acoustic response of the detection cell as a function of a frequency of a pressure wave, based on the plurality of amplitudes and/or phases of pressure waves measured at a) and the respective modulation frequencies.
c) Comparing with a processor at least one determined acoustic response of the detection cell to at least one reference acoustic response;
d) Based on the result of the comparison, providing with a processor a detection result characterizing acoustic leaks in the detection cell.-

Abstract: A medical device configured to receive a physiological signal from a physiological sensor coupled with a patient and to perform a vital signs measurement based on the physiological signal, the medical device comprising a driver circuit that drives one or more emitters of a physiological sensor at multiple wavelengths of light to cause the one or more emitters to transmit the multiple wavelengths of light through body tissue of a patient, a hardware processor in communication with the physiological sensor. The hardware processor is configured to determine a number of remaining credits, in response to a determination that the number of remaining credits satisfies a threshold, enable continuous monitoring of the patient based on a physiological signal for a limited period of time, update the number of remaining credits, measure, from the physiological signal, a plurality of values of a physiological parameter, output, for the limited period of time, the plurality of values of the physiological parameter audibly or to a display.
