摘要:
The application relates to: a hearing device adapted to a specific user and comprising a) a forward path for processing an electric signal representing sound, the forward path comprising a1) an input unit for providing an electric input signal representing sound, a2) a signal processing unit for processing the electric input signal and providing a processed electric signal, and a3) an output unit for providing stimuli perceivable by a user as sound based on an electric output signal The signal processing unit is operatively connected to the input and output units. The hearing device further comprises b) a configurable tinnitus signal generator for generating a tinnitus masking signal intended to relieve a tinnitus of the user, and c) a combination unit operationally connected to the configurable tinnitus signal generator and to the forward path. The combination unit is configured to - at least in a specific tinnitus masking mode - provide that said electric output signal comprises the tinnitus masking signal. The application further relates to a binaural hearing system. The object of the present application is provide an alternative solution in a hearing device or system to problems related to tinnitus. The hearing device further comprises d) an analysis path comprising d1) an analysis unit for analyzing a signal of the forward path and for providing a forward path analysis control signal; d2) a control unit for receiving a number of control input signals including the forward path analysis control signal, and for providing a resulting tinnitus control signal based on a predefined criterion involving said number of control input signals, wherein - at least in said specific tinnitus masking mode - the control unit is adapted to control the configurable tinnitus signal generator, depending on the resulting tinnitus control signal, to thereby adaptively control a level of the tinnitus masking signal. The invention may e.g. be used in hearing aids, headsets, ear phones, active ear protection systems, handsfree telephone systems, mobile telephones, etc.

Timed stimulation of both somatosensory system and auditory system is controlled, in such a manner, that an individual's brain activity is altered through spike-timing dependent plasticity, thereby reducing or removing tinnitus.

Disclosed is a hearing diagnosis and treatment device, comprising at least an all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator for generating various audio and tone signals meeting hearing diagnosis and treatment conditions, a digital information management and transmission module connected with the all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator, and a tinnitus diagnosis and treatment unit and a hearing-aid diagnosis and treatment unit which are connected with the all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator. On the basis of the above, the hearing diagnosis and treatment device of the present invention integrates the tinnitus diagnosis and treatment unit and the hearing-aid diagnosis and treatment unit which share the same all-digital audio and tone signal synthesis generator, so the device is simplified, saves cost, is conveniently operable and portable and widely applicable, and provides patients with hearing problems with individual and specific diagnosis and treatment.

A method of assessing the effect of viewing varying colours of light on a subject's perception of tinnitus, comprising the steps of: presenting a display in at least part of the subject's field of view; illuminating the display with coloured light in the visible spectrum using one or more variable sources; varying measurable values of the coloured light illuminating the display; and recording the measurable values of the coloured light illuminating the display at which the subject indicates a change in their perception of tinnitus. Also provided are methods of determining which tristimulus values of light can be used to alleviate a subject's perception of tinnitus, methods of producing data sets of measurable values of coloured light, use of coloured light, articles formulated to modify illumination of at least part of the visual field of a subject, a method of alleviating a subject's perception of tinnitus and use of apparatus for assessing the effect of viewing varying colours of light on a subject's perception of tinnitus.

Methods and devices for treating tinnitus in human or animal subjects wherein the subject is caused to perceive a tinnitus suppressing sound which fully or partially suppresses the subject's tinnitus. In some embodiments of this method, the subject selects a sound that he or she perceives to be the same as the tinnitus and that sound (or a similar sound that is complementary to the subject's perceived tinnitus) is then used as the tinnitus suppressing sound. In other embodiments, the tinnitus suppressing may be a sound that has previously been determined to suppress tinnitus in a substantial number of subjects.

A tinnitus method and device for providing relief to a person suffering from the disturbing effects of tinnitus is described. The method can be implemented entirely in software to spectrally modify an audio signal in accordance with a predetermined masking algorithm which modifies the intensity of the audio signal at selected frequencies. A predetermined masking algorithm is described which provides intermittent masking of the tinnitus wherein, at a comfortable listening level, during peaks of the audio signal the tinnitus is completely obscured, whereas during troughs the perception of the tinnitus occasionally emerges. In practice it has been found that such intermittent masking provides an immediate sense of relief, control and relaxation for the person, whilst enabling sufficient perception of the tinnitus for habituation and long term treatment to occur. Advantageously the predetermined masking algorithm is specifically tailored to the audiometric configuration of the person. For example, the masking algorithm may be partly tailored to the hearing loss characteristic of the person. A tinnitus rehabilitation device used in conjunction with a personal sound reproducing system is also described.

Representative embodiments are directed to detecting neurological activity in a patient. The detection of neurological activity includes identifying cross-frequency coupling and determining whether the cross-frequency coupling is physiological or pathological. When pathological cross-frequency coupling is detected, neurostimulation of one or more sites is applied. In some embodiments, an implantable pulse generator is adapted to analyze neural activity for pathological cross-frequency coupling and to provide electrical stimulation in response to the detected pathological cross-frequency coupling.
