    摘要: A method for performing an in-vivo calibration of a blood pressure sensor that is associated with an in-vivo balloon system. The method involves monitoring a patient's blood pressure by observing the system gas pressure while at the same time monitoring the patient's blood pressure through the sensor. The blood pressure measurements obtained by monitoring the system gas pressure are used as reference, or “true,” blood pressure measurements, and an “offset” is determined between the reference blood pressure measurements and the blood pressure measurements obtained through the sensor. The offset can be stored in a memory, which may also store sensor sensitivity data. The offset and/or sensitivity data may be used to adjust future measurements obtained from the sensor, thereby generating calibrated sensor measurements.

    摘要: A syringe which has an intended pressure limit. The syringe includes a syringe body (12), and a pressure-limiting mechanism is disposed inside the syringe body. The pressure-limiting mechanism comprises a valve assembly (18) including a valve spool (66) which is spring biased in the syringe body. In one embodiment, the pressure-limiting mechanism is provided in the form of a valve seal (88) included in a valve piston (84) provided on the valve spool (66) which moves into sealing engagement with an internal wall (92) of a valve bore in the syringe housing once the intended pressure limit is reached. In another embodiment, the pressure-limiting mechanism is provided in the form of the valve mechanism (110) having a valve seat (138) on the distal end of a valve spool (114) which moves into sealing or plugged engagement with a valve plug (142) once the intended pressure limit is reached. Regardless of the exact configuration, preferably the syringe is simple, reliable, easy to assembly, and easy to sterilize given its low number of parts.

    摘要: The present invention provides a device comprising an intragastric balloon, comprising: a polymeric wall; a valve system; a casing; a sealing member; and a deflation component. The casing has one or more vent pathways, and the sealing member is positioned to block the one or more vent pathways when in place. The deflation component is situated in the casing and behind the retaining structure. The deflation component is configured, in use, to expand upon exposure to moisture inside of the balloon via the one or more vent pathways, thereby pushing the retaining structure and thus the sealing member linearly past the casing to open the one or more vent pathways so as to provide fluid communication between an in vivo gastric environment and a lumen of the balloon.
