Weitere Gegenstände der Erfindung sind ein Verfahren zur Herstellung des Verbundfiltermediums, die Verwendung des Verbundfiltermediums und ein Filter enthaltend das erfindungsgemäße Verbundfiltermedium.

The disclosure includes, in some embodiments, a filter element that includes a first porous outer layer formed from a nonwoven material, a second porous outer layer formed from a nonwoven material, and at least one inner porous layer formed from a high loft nonwoven material (or other suitable material) disposed between the first porous outer layer and the second porous outer layer. The high loft nonwoven material has a three dimensional matrix formed by entangled and bonded fibers that cooperate to form a plurality of three dimensional interstices between the fibers for maintaining an open and tortuous flow path for fluid to pass through. The filter element also includes filter aid particles dispersed in the interstices of the high loft nonwoven material.

A fiber bed mist eliminator has a fiber bed which is formed of a composite fiber bed collecting media strip including a collection layer which is not subjected to needle punching. The fiber bed can be made very thin while retaining high efficiency in removing small particles of aerosol from a gas stream passing through the fiber bed. The fiber bed collecting media strip lends itself to be applied to the mist eliminator by spirally wrapping the element onto the mist eliminator. The fiber bed collecting media strip can overlap itself to seal at the locations where the fiber element overlaps itself. The fiber bed collecting media strip can be provided to the field in different formats for use in making a mist eliminator fiber bed.

Apparatus and methods for extracorporeal blood filtration involving the connection of a patient's cardiovascular circulation to an extracorporeal circulatory circuit, and filtration devices suitable for use in such apparatus and methods are disclosed. Such filtration devices include a filter medium comprising a layer of non-woven fabric (21) impregnated with porous beads (22) and carrying a porous screen (23) on at least one side. This invention enables the removal or particular molecular species such as pro-inflammatory cytokines from a patient's circulation, and is of particular utility in cardiopulmonary bypass and haemodialysis-like procedures.

The invention relates to an adsorption filter material, particularly for ABC protective clothing, preferably for wearing on the skin, particularly as an undergarment, the adsorption filter material having a multilayer construction, wherein the multilayer construction comprises a first textile web material, a second textile web material, and an adsorption layer disposed between the first and the second textile web materials, the adsorption layer comprising discrete, particularly granular, preferably spherical sorbent particles adsorbing chemical and/or biological toxins and noxious substances, particularly warfare agents, preferably based on activated carbon. The adsorption filter material is characterized in that the first textile web material and the second textile web material each are designed to be elastic in at least one direction, preferably in both directions, and/or that the first textile web material and the second textile web material have at least substantially equal elasticity properties. The adsorption material has a high degree of wearing comfort and simultaneously excellent protection against chemical toxins.
