The invention relates to a device for absorbing organic constituents in ambient air formed by a cooking appliance. The device comprises a first reservoir (10) containing a first liquid (12) comprising a lipophilic solution. The first reservoir comprises an air inlet (14) and an air outlet (16), the outlet communicating with a space (18) over the liquid. The device also comprises a system (20) for pumping the ambient air to the first reservoir through the inlet. The device also comprises a first system (24,26) to bubble the pumped ambient air in the first liquid (12), to generate an output air stream exiting the first reservoir via the outlet (16). The lipophilic solution (12) comprises a plant oil. This invention provides a low cost and safe air filtering device which is effective in removing organic matter such as cooking fumes.

The plurality of passageways include an inlet and an outlet for the flow of a gas stream therethrough, wherein each passageway includes at least one segment configured to perturb the flow of at least a portion of the gas stream between the inlet and the outlet. Such gas perturbation enhances gas stream contact with the exposed surfaces. Portions of the exposed surfaces comprise a sorbent-polymer-composite material adapted for adsorption of elemental and oxidized mercury vapor. The exposed surfaces are disposed to enhance the removal of liquid-containing droplets and elemental and oxidized mercury vapor.

The present invention relates to a domestic or industrial gas scrubber (16) to remove and separate impurities and fluids in a wet process, in the form of droplets and particles from gaseous streams of combustion gas, biogas or air, using a continuous colloidal centrifugal separating process. The droplets and particles are drawn by gravity to a settling tank (8), which includes a fan (11) ensuring the stream circulation inside the scrubber (16), and comprising two modules: one pulverization and absorption module (2), and another module (6) for moisture control and colloidal droplets capture, which were previously formed in module (2) in order to remove unwanted particles, this second module (6) being formed by sets of baffles (5) whose configuration forces the fluid stream to travel part of his path under a centrifugal effect.

The invention discloses a filter (1) having an inlet mouth (4), through which a contaminated fluid (gas or smokes) can pass to the inside of the filter, at an appropriate temperature, and mixes there with fine water drops and then with liquid nitrogen flowing through showers (9, 10), all of which forming a hail-like mass which precipitates to a decanter (14) where the separation of solidified contaminant particles will take place, said particles coming out to the outside through a discharge valve (15) while clean air will be expelled to the atmosphere through a chimney (17). It is provided, as a second option, to incorporate a coil as a substitution to liquid nitrogen showers mentioned hereabove. Finally, it is to be noted that it is possible to avoid said water drops, depending on the type of contaminated fluid.
