摘要:
摘要:
A structured packing element comprises a plurality of corrugated sheets and one planar member 200 positioned adjacent to each of the corrugated sheets. The planar member 200 has a top edge and a bottom edge that are at least proximally aligned with the top and bottom edges respectively of the corrugated sheets. The planar member 200 is further characterised by a middle portion 210 having a percentage open area that is higher than the percentage open area of the top and bottom portions 202 and 204 of the planar member 200. The structured packing element can be used to form structured packings for distillation applications.

The HETP (height equivalent to a theoretical plate) of a section (11) packed with structured packing of a column (22) for exchanging heat and/or mass between an ascending gaseous phase and a descending liquid phase is reduced by reducing the ascending phase flow through the packing (24) adjacent the column wall (40) compared with ascending phase flow through the packing (26) in the centre (30) of the column section to compensate for reduced descending phase flow by maintaining an essentially constant phase ratio across the column section. In a preferred embodiment, the column section is packed with a layer of mixed-resistance structured packing including a central core (30) of first structured packing (26) and an outer annulus (28) of second structured packing (24) generally horizontally adjacent the first structured packing and having increased resistance to ascending gaseous flow than the first structured packing.

A liquid-vapour contact apparatus has pairs (2) and (4) of vertical outer walls disposed in the manner of the vertical faces of a cuboid. The apparatus includes a plurality of spaced, parallel, vertical plates (8). Between each pair of adjacent plates (8) there is a packing comprising a vertical array of corrugated liquid-vapour contact elements (12) of the type that are used in the assembly of structured packing, and having the apexes (20) of the elements in fluid tight engagement with the respective plates. The corrugations in each element (12) slope from top to bottom in a direction (15 or 16) opposed to that (16 or 15) in which the corrugations in contiguous elements slope. The two outermost walls form the walls (4) of the apparatus. The walls (6) comprise alternate edge portions of plates (8) and of spacer bars (10). Liquid is distributed appreciably evenly between the passages formed by adjacent vertical plates (8) at the top of the apparatus (22) and flows over the elements and effectively vertically downwards. Vapour is distributed appreciably evenly between the passages formed by adjacent vertical plates (8) at the bottom of the apparatus (24) and flows effectively vertically up through the elements making intimate contact with the vapour. The apparatus may according to the description be manufactured by vacuum brazing in the manner of a matrix heat exchanger.
摘要:
The present invention provides a packing material capable of improving the uniformity of liquid distribution and of achieving a preferable gas-liquid contact reaction even in the case that the specific surface area of the packing material is small. Further, the invention improves the performance of air separators by provision of the packing material of the present invention in rectifiers for performing the gas-liquid contact reaction. A plurality of projections (2) are provided on the surface of a thin plate (1), and holes (3) are provided between the projections (2). The transverse extension of the projections (2) is preferably larger than the longitudinal extension thereof, so that descending liquid (4) flows downward while being transversely dispersed at the projections (2). The holes (3) are provided between the projections (2) such that they do not obstruct the transverse dispersion of liquid (4) at the projections (2). Moreover, the holes (3) themselves accelerate the transverse dispersion of liquid (4) or the dispersion of liquid between the front and rear surfaces of the thin plate (1) by the surface tension of the liquid (4). As a result, an excellent uniformity of liquid distribution can be obtained on the surface of the thin plate (1).
摘要:
A plurality of corrugated plates are arranged in parallel relationship with corrugations in adjacent plates extending in a criss-crossing pattern to form a packing element for a heat exchange or mass transfer column. The plates are spaced closer together by providing reliefs in adjacent plates at the points of intersection between the criss-crossing corrugations. The reliefs allow the corrugations on the adjacent plates to extend into each other to reduce the spacing between the plates. The reliefs may be in the form of apertures or recesses.
