The invention relates to a grinding machine that is configured as a multi-station grinding machine having two complete grinding stations. Said grinding stations have grinding heads that can be moved relative to the saw blade by means of corresponding positioning devices such as cross table arrays and/or swing tables. Positioning devices and locking devices for the work pieces also form part of the grinding stations. The work piece holder only serves to position the saw blades in so far as their center axis is to be fixed in the grinding stations. Rotation about said central axis (M) and clamping of the saw blades in the corresponding rotational position to execute the grinding operation is performed by the relevant units of the grinding stations. A grinding machine having the above-mentioned configuration makes it possible to very rapidly, accurately and economically process saw blades. The inventive grinding machine is particularly useful for sharpening saw blades during manufacturing.

Only the primary pivoted arm (2) is driven up and down by a drive (43), pivoting the secondary arm (3) with it by a drive joint (6). Because the pivot axes of pivoted arms (2,3) are not parallel, a universal coupling (6) must be used. This drive joint (6) is offset relative to the pivot axles (32) upwardly from the saw-blade guide (13) in the plane (14) of the saw-blade. Thereby with an otherwise identical device wide or larger-diameter saw blades can be ground.
