According to the invention, the continuously running generation grinding method replicates (simulates) based on the penetration principle in a first iteration method, the grinding movement being broken into a plurality of discrete method steps, wherein a section curve is formed by intersecting the sleeve body of the worm grinding wheel with the flanks of the gearwheel and the resulting cut on the tooth flank is determined by calculation and the profile of the worm grinding wheel or a dresser is adjusted to eliminate the calculated cut in a second, subsequent iteration method.
