    摘要： A connecting assembly is provided that includes a tool receiving portion, a handle receiving portion, a tightening member, a first open region, and a second open region. The handle receiving portion has a first engaging portion, a clamping portion with a first cam, and a longitudinal axis. The tightening member has a second cam and a second engaging portion. The second engaging portion is engagable with the first engaging portion so that the tightening member moves to cause the first and second cams to interact with one another biasing the clamping portion in a desired direction. The first open region is defined at the first engaging portion, while the second open region is defined at the clamping portion so that the open regions are in fluid communication with one another.

    摘要： A connector comprises first and second engagable components 10,12 for mounting on an implement 11 and a handle and/or shaft (not shown), respectively. The first component 10 has a boss 13 formed with an internal socket 14 and an outer peripheral surface 10a surrounding the socket 14, and the second component 12 comprises an insert member 18, a sleeve member 19 which is independent of the insert member 18, and means for interengaging the insert and sleeve members 18,19 when the insert member 18 is received in the sleeve member 19. The insert member 18 has an insert portion 20 engagable within an opening in the end of the handle and/or shaft and a spigot portion 21 adapted to fit within the internal socket 14 of the boss 13. The sleeve member 19 has a first portion 22 engagable with the external surface of the end of the handle and/or shaft, and a second portion 23 engagable with the outer peripheral surface 10a of the first component 10.

    摘要： A handle for a portable tool has secured to it spindle 15 which is engageable in a nut 12 held captive in thetool casing. The spindle is encircled by a flange 18 having on one face ratchet teeth 27 which co-operate with complementary teeth 26 in a boss 25 on the casing, the flange being capable of axial movement relative to the spindle 15 against the bias of a spring 24 to allow the teeth 27 to ride over the teeth 26. The handle cannot become unscrewed accidentally but can be unscrewed when the flange is pressed outward against the spring 24.
