Abstract:
Surface retarder coating compositions of the invention are based on the use of at least one non-Ordinary Portland Cement (non-OPC) binder and at least one OPC set retarder agent, which are provided in powder form that can be mixed with water at the construction site. The coating is applied onto the surface of a mould or formwork using roller or spray equipment, and concrete can then be cast within 30-60 minutes against the coating. The OPC set-retarding agent operates to retard setting of the concrete so that it can be de-moulded the next day and its surface can be removed using a high pressure water spray to reveal aggregate embedded beneath the removed surface.
Abstract:
A concrete element (1) for protecting an underwater installation, which element is shaped as an elongated, curved shell segment having two gable ends (2, 3), a bottom side (4) with a longitudinal cavity (5) for receiving the underwater installation, a top side (6) designed for low frictional resistance against a trawl, and at least two through-going apertures (7, 8) from the top side (6) to the cavity (5). The projection of the gable ends (2, 3) is inclined so that the top side (6) becomes longer than the bottom side (4), and the concrete element (1) is provided with, or prepared for attachment of, at least one connecting member, for interconnection with a corresponding connecting member of another concrete element. The connecting members are of a design such that the distance between the outer edges of the gable ends of two interconnected concrete elements becomes smaller than 30 centimetres.
Abstract:
A block has a finished surface that provides an attractive appearance. The block is relatively large in size, allowing the quick construction of a wall, such as a retaining wall, using the block. The block includes one or more lift and alignement devices in the block that allow the block to be lifted using a suitable lifting apparatus, such as a crane, forklift, backhoe, etc. The block includes one or more recessed portions in the bottom surface of the block positioned to receive the protruding lift and alignement device of a previously-laid block underneath, thereby helping to align the block with the previously-laid block. The block includes one or more voids that extend from the top surface to the bottom surface of the block, and that align with each other when the blocks are stacked into a wall, thereby allowing fill material to be placed in the voids to strengthen the wall. The preferred embodiments also include a wall system with various different blocks that may be used to built a wall.
Abstract:
A modular construction essentially consisting of two vertical panels (100, 101) with mutually facing planar walls (2), and two horizontal panels (102, 103) arranged between the planar walls (2) of said vertical panels (100, 101) by means of bolts (106) inserted into tubes (23) in the vertical panels (100, 101) then screwed into sockets (20) in tie-rods (19) of the horizontal panels (102, 103).
Abstract:
A machine (30) for forming ceramic tiles by pressing in a mould, comprising a fixed lower base (31) acting as a reaction base during pressing and having a horizontal bearing surface, a vertically movable member (33), and an upper die (32) carried by the movable member (33) to define the upper surface of the mould forming cavity, includes a flat lower element (11) of sufficiently compression-resistant material resting on the bearing surface and movable on it to act as the lower surface of the mould cavity, a mould die plate (35) positioned above said flat element (11) to define the side walls of the mould cavity and movable vertically between a lower position in contact with the flat lower element (11) and an upper position in which it is raised from the flat element (11) to enable the formed tiles (9) to pass below it, after each pressing operation said flat lower element (11) being moved horizontally in combination with the raising of the die plate (35), to remove the formed tile (9).
Abstract:
Abstract:
A method of manufacturing an edge element, which is a laminate and comprises a porous core layer (9) and a hard surface layer (8). A non-stretchable layer (6) is placed on a foldable mold (1,2,3) on a support. A hardenable layer (8) is sprayed on the non-stretchable layer (8). The porous core layer (9) is placed on the hardenable layer (8) and the mold with the non-stretchable and the hardenable layer are folded around the core layer. The non-stretchable layer contributes to making the hardenable layer come very close to the surface and the edges of the core layer. Crack formation, curved rather than sharp edges and wrinkle formation are prevented in the finished laminate.
