The invention relates to a process for dissolving crystalized carbonates present in Cultural Heritage Artworks comprising a step of mixing a solution comprising a photoacid generator or a mixture of a photoacid generator and a sensitizer with the crystalized calcium carbonate present in a cultural heritage artwork and a step of irradiating with light of wavelengths at which the photoacid generator or the sensitizer absorbs said light. Therefore, the present invention is of interest in the areas of restoration of cultural heritage artworks.

A method for making a ceramic matrix composite component includes densifying a fibrous preform of the component with a ceramic matrix to form an intermediate component (10); infiltrating a hole (14) in the intermediate component (10) with an infiltrate material (22) comprising a solid and a metallic alloy whose reaction forms a carbide, silicide, boride or combination thereof, heating the infiltrate material (22) to a temperature in excess of a melting point of the metallic alloy; and sequentially cooling regions of the hole (14) starting from an interior end of the hole (14) to the outer surface (11) of the intermediate component (10) to form a solidified through-thickness reinforcement element (26). The hole (14) extends in a through-thickness direction and is open to an exterior surface of the intermediate component (10).

A process for the manufacture of a zirconium oxide prosthesis, the zirconium oxide being stabilized, which process includes the following steps: a) compacting a zirconium oxide powder at a pressure of at least 45 MPa to an object of a desired form, b) impacting an etchable medium into the surface, c) optionally working the object to a final shape, d) sintering the body at a temperature of above 1170° C. to transfer zirconium oxide into a tetragonal crystalline structure, and e) etching the etchable medium using hydrofluoric acid to remove the medium and impart a micromechanical retention surface. A prosthesis prepared by this process is also disclosed.

Halbstarrer Belag für Verkehrsflächen aus einer in ein Asphalttraggerüst eingefüllten Mörtelslurry, bei dem nach dem Einbringen der Mörtelslurry in das Asphalttraggerüst ein Verzögerer auf die Oberfläche der Mörtelslurry aufgebracht wurde und eine obere Schicht mit verzögerter Erhärtung nach dem Erhärten der übrigen Mörtelslurry mechanisch entfernt wurde sowie ein Verfahren zur Herstellung von halbstarren Belägen, umfassend die Schritte Erstellen eines Asphalttraggerüstes, Einbringen einer Mörtelslurry, Aufsprühen eines Verzögerers auf die Oberfläche der eingebrachten Mörtelslurry und mechanisches Abtragen der oberen Schicht mit verzögerter Erhärtung nach dem Erhärten der übrigen Mörtelslurry.
