The invention relates to a method for packaging liquid products under pressure in containers (2) consisting of a thermoplastic plastic, in which method the containers are produced from sterilised preforms (3) by blow moulding and are cooled by applying a liquid coolant, preferably in the form of water or an aqueous solution, to the exterior of the containers. Said containers are then filled under pressure with the relevant product and the filled containers (2) are subsequently sealed. A sterilisation and/or disinfection medium is added to the liquid coolant used for cooling the containers. The method is characterised in that chlorine dioxide is used in particular as the disinfection medium.

This disclosure provides a method of manufacturing a polymer container according to a blow molding or stretch blow molding process, in which the base of the blow mold has at least one orifice for pressurized gas to enter the blow mold through the base. Introducing pressurized gas through the orifice in the blow mold base provides cooling assistance within the gas mold, much earlier than the cooling using conventional methods, which can reduce or eliminate the need for any post mold cooling. This method has been found to be applicable to non-hot fill application bottle and container manufacture.
