Methods for producing a stretch film are provided, including disposing one or more extruders in fluid communication with a stock of virgin resin; heating the virgin resin to a molten state; delivering the molten virgin resin to a die; and extruding the molten virgin resin through the die onto a casting roll, thereby creating a cast stretch film. Methods for delivering the molten virgin resin onto a casting roll of varying sizes and set temperatures; and of moving a resulting film onto a secondary chill roll of varying sizes and set temperatures, are also provided. Finally, methods for moving the film from either the casting roll or the secondary chill roll onto a slitting assembly, dividing the film using one more interior or exterior slits, and then capturing and gathering the trim waste but not reintroducing the trim waste back into the production process are also disclosed.

The composition includes a first amount of a bioabsorbable polymer polymerized so as to have a first molecular weight distribution; a second amount of said bioabsorbable polymer polymerized so as to have a second molecular weight distribution having a weight average molecular weight between about 10,000 to about 50,000 Daltons, the weight average molecular weight ratio of said first molecular weight distribution to said second molecular weight distribution is at least about two to one; wherein a substantially homogeneous blend of said first and second amounts of said bioabsorbable polymer is formed in a ratio of between about 50/50 to about 95/5 weight/weight percent. Thus, the polyacetylene film can be continuously produced with good productivity, and since the speed for drawing the polyacetylene film is varied to regulate the thickness of the film, the films of various size can be readily fabricated in mass production, thereby the cost of the polyacetylene film.

A method of preparing a high strength sheet material comprising (a) forming a laminate comprising at least two layers of a thermoplastic polymer material, each layer having a fibrillar grain structure providing a predominant direction of s p littability in each said layer, and wherein the layers are bonded to one another with the said predominant directions of splittability transverse to each other, (b) biaxially orienting the molecules of said layers by stretching the layers in substantially uniaxial steps, the transverse streching being effected by applying pressure to the surface of the laminate along lines extending substantially in the longitudinal direction of the laminate to impart thereto a waved configuration, and (c) subjecting the biaxially oriented laminate to a heat treatment while allowing at least 7% shrinkage of the laminate to take place in at least its transverse direction.
