Abstract: A method for producing a composite lightweight construction (7) from a plane sheet (11) of a pre-preg fibre composite material is disclosed, which method comprises the steps of cutting out a piece (12) of the sheet (11) of pre-preg fibre composite material, which piece (12) has a predetermined size and shape depending on the composite lightweight construction (7) to be produced, heating the cut-out piece (12) to a temperature, at which the pre-preg fibre composite material is formable, forming the composite lightweight construction (7) by pressing the heated piece (12) into a desired three-dimensional shape, and actively cooling the formed composite lightweight construction (7) to a temperature, at which the pre-preg fibre composite material is form-stable. Furthermore, a formed composite lightweight construction (7), such as a vehicle outer surface component (2-6) configured to be attached in exterior arrangement to a vehicle (1) to withstand climate exposure, such as rain, snow, wind and/or sunlight, which composite lightweight construction (7) is produced using such a method is disclosed.
