Abstract:
The invention relates to a mine clearing vehicle which can be used in particular, but not exclusively, to destroy anti-personnel mines by triggering the mine firing system. The inventive vehicle includes at least one running gear comprising a drum formed by a set of floating disks (D) which can be made, for example, of steel, which are positioned substantially coaxially side by side and which can move radially in relation to one another. Each of said disks (D) includes a central hole (30) through which rotary drive means (31) pass, wherein said drive means extend axially from one end of the drum to the other and are coupled to a power unit. In addition, the aforementioned drive means (31) are provided with abutment surfaces which engage with abutment surfaces provided on the disks (D) at the above-mentioned holes (30), such that the drive means (31) rotate each of the disks (D) while providing same with a degree of radial freedom in relation to the axis of the rotary drive means (31).
Abstract:
A dual wheel axle assembly (10) for a vehicle is provided for reducing tire wear caused by scrubbing during vehicle turns. The assembly includes an axle housing (12) having an axle shaft (14) arranged within the axle housing. The axle shaft defines a rotational axis (R). A first wheel hub (20) is supported on an end portion (22) of the axle housing and is mechanically coupled to the axle shaft. A second wheel hub (26) is supported on the end portion adjacent to the first wheel hub. A fluid coupling (30) is interconnected between the axle shaft and the second wheel hub. The fluid coupling has fluid for fluidly driving the second wheel hub through the axle shaft and permitting the second wheel hub to rotate about the rotational axis relative to the first wheel hub during the vehicle turn.
Abstract:
A dual wheel assembly (10) for a vehicle is provided that includes an axle assembly (12) having an axle shaft (14) disposed therein, which defines an axis. First and second wheel hubs (30,32) are supported on outboard and inboard portions, respectively of the axle assembly. The first wheel hub (30) is coupled to the axle shaft (14) so that the first wheel hub may be driven about the axis and the second wheel hub (32) is rotatable about the axis relative to the first wheel hub. A first bearing assembly (50) is interposed between the first wheel hub and the outboard portion for supporting the first wheel hub on the outboard portion. The outboard portion has a first shoulder with the first bearing assembly abutting the first shoulder. Similarly, a second bearing (60) assembly is interposed between the second wheel hub and the inboard portion for supporting the second wheel hub on the inboard portion, and the inboard portion has a second shoulder with the second bearing assembly abutting the second shoulder. Securing members are attached to the axle assembly opposite each shoulder to retain the bearing assemblies and wheel hubs on the axle assembly. In this manner, the wheel hubs may be more easily installed and removed as units independently of one another.
Abstract:
The invention relates to a transport vehicle with variable width and track width, comprising a chassis (14) and at least one radial axle (16, 18, 20, 22), the chassis (14) comprising two chassis parts (28), each of which carries a row of bogies (60) arranged one behind the other and can be adjusted transversely with respect to a vertical longitudinal center plane (26) of the transport vehicle. According to the invention, a single longitudinally adjustable transverse tie bar (72) is arranged between the two rows of bogies (60) and connects the two bogies (60) of the/a radial axle (16, 18, 20 22), the length of said transverse tie bar being adjustable by a value corresponding to the extent to which the width and track width are increased or decreased.
Abstract:
A wheel for a vehicle, including a rim (10) having axially- spaced support portions (12, 14) on which respective annular tyre - supporting elements (34,36) are engageable; wherein one of the support portions is of ] arger diameter than the other.
