Es ist die Aufgabe der vorliegenden Erfindung ein verbessertes Verfahren zum Herstellen einer Verpackung sowie eine verbesserte Verpackungsmaschine bereitzustellen, die ermöglichen, Verpackungen zu erzeugen, die sowohl höchsten Ansprüchen an die Handhabbarkeit und die Optik genügen als auch auf eine kostengünstige Art hergestellt werden können. Aus diesem Grund wird ein Verfahren zum Herstellen einer Verpackung bereitgestellt mit den Schritten: Formen eines Behälters (13) in einer Bahn eines ersten bahnförmigen Materials (7) durch Tiefziehen; Formen eines Deckels (14') in einer Bahn eines weiteren bahnförmigen Materials (9') durch Tiefziehen; Aufsetzen des Deckels (14') auf den Behälter (13); und daran anschließendes Austrennen des Behälters (13) aus dem ersten bahnförmigen Material (7, 9'), dadurch gekennzeichnet, dass der Rand (20, 21, 22) des Behälters (13) und der Rand (20', 21', 22') des Deckels (14') in einer abgewinkelten oder umgebogenen Form geformt werden.

The process comprises the following steps: a) a thermoformable cover plate is laid over the upper surface of the plate, at least the opening of the at least one well to be sealed off being covered over by part of the plate, with its upper surface facing upwards, b) a weld is produced at least round the opening of the well to be sealed off, the weld joining to the multi-well plate at least the part of the cover plate which covers the opening of the well to be sealed off. In order to increase the area of contact between the upper surface of the multi-well plate and the cover plate, the weld has a shaped cross-section.

A method for covering and sealing an opening in a container. The method employs a polyolefin-based stretch film which is free of adhesive and has a softening temperature in excess of 100 °C. At least one surface of the film having an upper and lower surface is substantially free of constituents which can dissolve in, or react with an organic solvent or a caustic agent. The method includes the steps of: (i) providing a portion of the film which covers the container opening, (ii) stretching the film using a mechanical force in a direction generally parallel to the principal axis of the container opening, and (iii) releasing the force and allowing the film to contract around the container opening to provide a liquid-tight seal over the opening.
