Bei einem Verfahren zur Herstellung von Flaschenkästen aus Kunststoff werden zur Herstellung von Griffholmen (1) von den Kastenseiten her in Längsrichtung der herzustellenden Griffholme Formschwerter (8, 9) in den Formhohlraum (12) geschoben, die nach Einspritzen des Kunststoffmaterials und vor Entformung des Flaschenkastens abgezogen werden. Der Flaschenkasten nach der Erfindung zeichnet sich durch Griffholme aus, die in Längsrichtung des Griffholms ein geschlossenes Hohlprofil aufweisen und/oder durch Profile gebildet sind, die durch Anschweißen eines weiteren Pro-. fils zu einem geschlossenen Hohlprofil ergänzt werden. Durch das geschlossene Hohlprofil wird eine Versteifung des Griffholms erreicht und ferner das Trageverhalten verbessert.
