    摘要: An apparatus (10) for feeding product to a pipeline (40) via a venturi assembly (37) has first and second tanks (12a,12b) adapted to separately hold a quantity of product (14). The product is fed to the tanks from a supply hopper (20) and enters each tank through an upper opening which accommodates a feed chute (18a,18b). The open end (24a,24b) of each feed chute (18a,18b) is closable by a flapper door (26a,26b) which is swingable between open and closed positions. Pressurized air from a compressor (46) is used to selectively close the flapper doors (26a,26b) via a set of pressure valves which control the flow of air into the tanks. The product is fed from each tank to the pipeline through a Y-shaped housing (32) and the venturi assembly (37). The housing has respective lower openings (38a,38b) for each tank, also clos­able by swingable flapper doors (50a,50b). When the upper doors (26a,26b) are closed by the air pressure, the product (14) is forced out of the tank (12a,12b) into the pipeline (40). A plurality of sensors (80a,80b) are provided for sensing the product level in the tanks and a plurality of detectors (76) are provided for indicating when the flapper doors (26a,26b,50a,50b) are closed. A controller auto­matically monitors the sensors (80a,80b) and detectors (76), and regu­lates feed of the product into the tanks and the pressure valves so as to maintain a continuous duty operation in which product is discharged from one tank as the other tank fills.

    摘要: A process and apparatus for pneumatically conveying solid particulate material which includes a vessel (1) or blow tank which is supplied with particulate material to be conveyed from a suitable source. A riser pipe (5) extends into the vessel (1) and has a material inlet (6) near the bottom of the tank with its other end flow connected to a transport line. A bottom discharge arrangement is also contemplated. Gaseous fluid under pressure is supplied into the vessel (1) to pressurize the vessel and entrain and convey material through the riser pipe (5) to the material transport line and to a remote use point. A by-passline (20) is provided for selectively connecting the pressurized inside of the vessel with the riser pipe/transport line at a point downstream of the inlet (6) for material. This by-pass line (20) serves to selectively vent gaseous fluid under pressure in the vessel (1) to the material conveying line (5) when system pressure exceeds a predetermined limit. This results in an increase in air flow being supplied to the conveying line (5) to thereby reduce the material to air ratio in the conveying line and control the conveying rate through the conveying line. Adjustment of the value of the predetermined pressure can be used to adjust the material conveying rate. A low level sensor (40) is provided in the vessel (1) for actuating a control mechanism to change the predetermined pressure at which the by-pass line (20) will open to thereby permit gas under pressure in the vessel to be used for emptying the vessel.
