    (where R 5 is -H, C 1-4 alky or -CO 2 M and R 6 is -H or -NH 2 ) and M is H, NH 4 , Na, K or Li, and wherein the total number of -CO 2 M groups is 1 to 3. The dyes are alkali-soluble and can be used in water-based inks. Printing from the ink is insoluble below pH 6.0, is an intense black at low concentration, and remains black on acid papers. The aqueous inks are stable and exhibit good printhead nozzle maintenance.
