Provided is an aqueous black ink composition that can form black recorded images having excellent light resistance and water resistance, in particular, being hardly discolored by light. The aqueous ink composition of the present invention at least contains, as colorants, both a compound represented by Formula (1) or its salt or a mixture thereof and a colorant having a maximum absorption wavelength »max in a range of 560 to 680 nm and having a phthalocyanine skeleton. In Formula (1), R 1 , R 2 , R 5 , R 6 and R 7 each independently represent, for example, a hydrogen atom, a carboxy group, a sulfo group, or a nitro group; R 3 and R 4 each independently represent, for example, a hydrogen atom or a sulfo group; and n represents 0 or 1.

Disclosed is an inkjet black ink having a desirable color as a black ink for inkjet recording which enables to obtain high ozone resistance, high image density and recovery from fixation. Such an inkjet black ink is suppressed in decomposition of a compound represented by the general formula (I) below or a salt thereof during long-term storage. Specifically disclosed is an inkjet black ink containing at least a compound represented by the general formula (I) below or a salt thereof which is characterized in that it further contains at least one moisture-keeping nitrogen-containing compound and the initial pH of the ink and the pH of the ink after 10 days storage at 60°C are not more than 9.5.
