Verfahren zur flächenmäßigen Konzentrierung von Licht mittels fluoreszierender Verbindungen in Kunststoffplatten oder -folien, wobei als fluoreszierende Verbindungen solche der Formeln oder verwendet werden, in denen o Z =N- oder =CH-, Y für -OSO 2 R 1 , -OP (OR 2 ) 2 , -OCOR' oder -OR 3 , wobei 2 Y für N O C-R mit R = Alkyl; X für Fluor, Chlor, C,- bis C 20 -Alkyl, C 3 - bis C 20 -Alkenyl, Aralkyl, -COR', -SO 2 R 1 , -OPO(OR 2 ) 2 , -NH-COR' oder -NH-SO 2 -R 1 , m für 2, 3 oder 4, n für 0, 1 oder 2, R' für gegebenenfalls substituiertes Alkyl, Alkenyl, für einen aromatischen oder heteroaromatischen Rest, wobei wenn Y = -OCOR' ist R' auch Alkoxy oder Cycloalkoxy sein kann, R 2 für Alkyl oder Cycloalkyl and R 3 für Alkyl. Die Verbindungen und II zeigen Fluoreszenz im Bereich zwischen 580 und 750 nm und zeichnen sich durch eine sehr hohe Fluoreszenzquantenausbeute, durch besonders hohe Lichtechtheit und durch hohe thermische Stabilität aus.
