The stretch laminate hot melt adhesives are suitable for adhering elastic materials with inelastic substrates, and allow permanent deformation of the inelastic substrate and extensions and retractions of the elastic materials. The adhesive comprises a blend of a styrenic block copolymer, an ethylene vinyl acetate copolymer, a tackifying resin, petrolatum and optionally a wax. The use of petrolatum instead of mineral oil provides for better elevated temperature resistance than traditional formulations.

Embodiments disclosed herein describe a system for producing enhanced wax alternatives. The system comprises a reactor with at least one inlet and one outlet and at least one high shear mixing device with at least one inlet and one outlet. The at least one outlet of said high shear mixing device is in fluid communication with at least one inlet of said reactor. The high shear mixing device may comprise counter rotating rotors. The high shear mixing device may also comprise at least one catalytic surface. Embodiments disclosed herein also describe a method of producing enhanced wax alternatives. The method comprises (1) providing petroleum wax and base oil; (2) mixing said petroleum wax and base oil with a hydrogen-containing gas in a high shear device to form a feedstock; and (3) hydrogenating said feedstock for a time sufficient to produce enhanced hydrogenated products.

The inventive mixture of at least one colophonium resin and/or its derivatives and at least one wax is characterised in that the wax is solid at 15, especially 20 °C. The waxes used are preferably wax-type fatty substances based on fatty acids with more than 6 C-atoms. The mixtures are very suitable for producing low-emission aqueous adhesive dispersions with little odour, especially for sticking interior floor, wall and ceiling linings.
