A low energy processed biomass/coal blended compact aggregate composition made with a blending sub-system from a processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock made with a beneficiation sub-system and low energy coal is described. Renewable biomass feedstock passed through a beneficiation sub-system to reduce water content to below at least 20 wt % and an intracellular water-soluble salt reduction of at least 60% from that of unprocessed organic-carbon-containing feedstock on a dry basis. The processed feedstock is blended with sized low energy coal in a blending sub-system to form a blended aggregate that comprises at least 10 wt % of a coal having an energy density of less than 21 MMBTU/ton (24 GJ/MT) and at least 10 wt % of a processed biomass comprising a processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock with characteristics that include an energy density of at least 17 MMBTU/ton (20 GJ/MT) and a water-soluble intracellular salt content that is decreased more than 60 wt % on a dry basis for the processed organic-carbon-containing feedstock from that of unprocessed organic-carbon-containing feedstock.

Components derived from processed MSW waste streams can be used to make such feed stocks which are substantially free of glass, metals, grit and noncombustibles. A method for producing a briquetted solid fuel includes the step of pulverizing a low-rank coal. The pulverized low-rank coal is mixed with a solvent oil to give a slurry (mixing step). The slurry is heated and dewatered to give a dewatered slurry (dewatering step). The solvent oil is separated from the dewatered slurry to give a cake (solid-liquid separating step). The cake is heated to further separate the solvent oil from the cake to thereby give a refined coal in powder form (drying step). The refined coal is combined with a property-controlling coal in powder form having, as properties, a loose bulk density of 0.6 kg/L or more and an angle of repose of 40° or less, to give a briquetting feedstock containing the property-controlling coal in an amount of 5 to 70 mass percent based on the total mass of the briquetting feedstock (property-controlling step). The briquetting feedstock is briquetted under pressure to give the briquetted solid fuel in briquette form (briquetting step).

In some embodiments, a method includes combining a first waste stream that includes at least one of hard plastic, soft plastic and mixed plastic with a sorbent and increasing the temperature of the combined first waste stream and sorbent to a temperature of at least about 200° C. The method further includes combining the thermally treated first waste stream and sorbent with a second waste stream that includes fiber, and compressing the combined first waste stream, sorbent, and second waste stream to form a densified engineered fuel feedstock.

[Problem] To provide a method of molding a gas hydrate pellet for improving convenience of handling of a natural gas hydrate during transportation and storage, and thereby improving the practical use of the natural gas hydrate. [Solution] Gas hydrate slurry is fed in a compression chamber 21, and pressure and compression are applied to the gas hydrate slurry by advancing a compression plunger 21e. At that time, a stroking speed of the compression plunger 21e is set minimum, preferably less than a value expressed by a stroke length of the compression plunger 21e at compression x 10 -2 (m/min). By advancing the compression plunger 21e at low speed, binding between particles of the gas hydrate is tightened, thereby the gas hydrate pellet with increased shearing strength can be molded.
