The invention relates to a method for surface treating the surface (11') of a metal. The surface treatment is performed in a surfacing chamber (33), using a surfacing material (10), which is formed of one or more compounds and possible additives, and in which: the surfacing material (10) is brought to a principally gaseous state; the surfacing material (10) is led to the chamber (33); and the surfacing amterial (10) is permitted to react with the metal surface (11') being treated. The metal surface (11') being treated is subjected in the chamber (33) to a passing flow of the surfacing material (10), and in which the said surfacing material (10) comprises compound arising in dry distillation of deciduous-wood. The invention also relates to the equipment and surfacing material used in the method.

The invention relates to a method for producing a calibration body, in particular formed from steel or another metal, for an analysis method. According to the invention, the calibration body is formed from a material which is provided for producing a product to be analysed by means of the analysis method, and alters a property of the material in at least one region (9, 11, 12) of a semi-finished product (1) formed from the material. Advantageously, the material property alters only in region that is near the surface and extends from a surface (5, 2, 3, 4,) into the semi-finished product, wherein, preferably, a substance altering the material property is introduced into the region (9, 11, 12) into the semi-finished product (1). The invention further relates to a calibration body and a use of the calibration body.
